I think you may be correct in your assessment. If we compare La Liga and the EPL, there are three standout teams in La Liga. The so-called galaxy teams in the PL goes to 6th, so here the PL is stronger. But when we look at the clubs from 8th down, are these clubs any better than their counterparts in La Liga? This I doubt. The most points Saints or Leicester can get to is 49 which is 4 behind the team currently 10th in La Liga, the difference is the income received. I would guess that Bournemouth's turnover is higher than those in La Liga from 5th down.

In exchange for De Gea? Not on the bench last night, so either a big falling out with JM and/or United are preparing for life without De Gea. I think De Gea has been an excellent goalkeeper for United and if he feels it is time to return to his native city who can blame him. And I would not mind suggesting he may even take a pay cut to join Real.

For example, Saints could finish as high a 8th [current position] or as low as 13th. 8th gets them £24.7M. 13th gets them £15.2M Which basically means that it's not time for those flip-flops yet.

Nearly £2 million reasons to cheer Spurs on at Leicester plus the honour of finishing 8th if we can beat Stoke.

Wouldn't it be nice if Liverpool didn't get Champions League..

I can see an argument for this scenario to develop. A PL of 20 teams. Everyone plays each other once but there will have to be balances to ensure each of the clubs 8th to 20th gets at least 3 home games against the top 6. After 19 games the PL is split into 2. While the teams 8th, 9th and10th might seem to be cannon fodder for the elite, I think it would give a whole new lease of life to teams that appear to be meandering in the latter part of the season under the present season, and would give the teams at the bottom a purpose. And no, I haven't been on the "clinky, clinky."

As from next season, divers will be retro penalised if unanimously found guilty of deceiving the officials, as judged by a panel of ex-players and refs.

Have to admit, I have sympathy with Allardyce's view. He says bring in VARs and get it sorted at the moment, not retrospectively. In fact I prefer it, but they are being tardy with VARs in England. Bundesliga is adopting it from next season. Germans ahead as usual.

OK, I'll accept that. Besides, our system is better.

Thing is, they were way behind with their new system. Yet they still managed to catch up and start it at the same time. They don't **** about cautiously like the FA. They make a decision and get it sorted. We could easily have VARs next season. The Premier League want it. Refs want it. The clubs want it. Yet the FA are dragging their feet, as usual.

I've watched some very boring games of football this season. A few instant replay decisions (for fouls, penalties, diving) on the big screen would break up the monotony of watching your team pass the ball sideways for 10 minutes!
