It's brilliant. We have hardly had to do anything to claw our way up into 8th at last. (And literally nothing to do tonight!) The league really is awful behind Everton this season (not that I'm complaining at moving into 8th!).
Smashing it this week, got 134 points so far and i've still got 5 players to go. That 72 point hit i took was really really worth it
Actually found a decent article in the Mail Online on final placings and how much clubs could or may not earn. The message is, there are no dead matches in the PL. There's too much money at stake: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...emier-League-money-table-no-dead-rubbers.html For example, Saints could finish as high a 8th [current position] or as low as 13th. 8th gets them £24.7M. 13th gets them £15.2M Which basically means that it's not time for those flip-flops yet.
Wouldn't say it was awful. I'd say it was competitive. Hence the points spread is very fine amongst several teams. Everton had nothing to do this season. Did nothing in the League Cup - beaten by Norwich in the 3rd round at home. Did nothing in the FA Cup - beaten by Leicester at home in the 3rd round. Were they really that strong for a supposedly traditionally big club.? I don't think they were over achieving at all. We'll see how good they are next season, when they have a Europa commitment. That's if they get through the qualifiers. And no beachwear for us in these last two games either.
Completely agree. I have said for years now that they are the 7th best side in this division. They just horribly under achieved for the past two years under Martinez, in my view. Ron has got them back to where they should be, no more than that. Getting them to 7th absolutely doesn't compare to getting us to 6th. Obviously I disagree on your opening point though, as I have already made my point. Yes it may well have been competitive, but that doesn't mean it's not been bad. Just lots of bang average sides, with little quality amongst them.
Watford deploying their annual strategy of replacing their manager. Not really a surprise. Could be an issue for those on here who are pro-Marco Silva, as potentially this gives Watford a head start.
