It's much easier to label other people, Kish, than label yourself. But generally I find extremists extremely boring and predictable. Moderates are fine, left or right. I'm tribal labour, but have more in common with moderate Tories than extremists of any hue.
Ha! The irony meter has gone off the scale. The lefties are the quickest to label anyone who disagrees with their credo as racists, bigots and xenophobes. It was only last night that the x-word was levelled at me. Why? Because I dared to suggest our country should chuck out foreign ponces, criminals and beggars. I can live with it, though.
You're right POnders. I didn't mean to suggest that it's only right-wing extremists who find it easier to label those who disagree with them. I think maybe you agree with my general point that it's easier to label others than to label oneself?

I wouldn't say it was about left and right, the comment was tasteless and not thought out. I like to believe given the chance again he wouldn't be so insensitive, but I also predict (may be wrong) that using that word opens this debate up for ridicule.
But in the grand scheme of things, this is nothing to do with the debate at hand. I guess I just heard it and thought it was worth asking your thoughts.
Good post, FHB. I do agree with you about labelling others. We are all guilty of it to some degree.
I often label myself, but I shan't divulge what the labels are.
Farage, for me, is often right on matters of immigration, asylum and the corruption within the EU. His stinging criticism of Merkel is spot on, in my opinion. That old bint has destroyed Germany.
The EU has already lined up a replacement for the UK...

The internet is no place for politics, the lack of physical interaction means anyone can say any nonsense without consequences. Only idiots get heard by saying something stupid.
Same thing with the spread of news stories, the right, especially the far-right, has been first to notice that social media is the way to reach the masses. People are driven by emotive stories, not boring statistics.

100% agree. What I disliked about brexit was (and I'm drawing on examples from my friends) that guys on both sides were talking confidently that they knew what they were saying and influencing those that openly said they didn't know what was going on.
I think I even asked on here for advice and knew I'd get both sides. As long as things are civil then I appreciate the conversation. Even if I'm a remoaner

Politics is about talking, not listening. How many senior politicians are good listeners? It's possible donald trump has reached that stage in life where you stop listening. Stuck on Transmit, if you like.
But the very problem is that we cant leave until the details have been sorted out. or at least two basic points the single market & the EU citizens already here & the UK citizens living in the EU
We can pay an annual fee for access to the single market.
EU settlers in the UK including 860,000 Poles should be incentivised to return home. We can easily manage without them
Most of our immigration now comes from outside the EU. nigel farage himself said we should concentrate in ties with our real friends in the commonwealth.
Even Merkel's sister Party in Bavaria are now saying that Germany needs an immigration cap of 200,000 a year.
They are thinking of re-naming themselves the After The Horse Has Bolted Party.
What the Left and the EU has ended up doing is playing into the hands of the extreme Right across mainland Europe. It is conceivable that Nazism could return to Germany in our lifetimes.
Immigration to this country post Brexit should be capped at around 30,000 a year max. Just let in from the established Commonwealth (not dictatorships in Africa) scientists, doctors and engineers.
