Traditionally Labour is the party of high taxation, but I know Tories who are now saying that the basic rate of income tax needs to be raised in order to fund the struggling NHS. Since Mrs Thatcher used a massive privatisation program to cut taxes the conventional political wisdom has been that if you raise taxes you lose. Gordon Brown's stealth taxes and costly PFI deals postponed the day of reckoning, but I think that day is here now, and the electorate have to accept the financial realities. No-one wants to die and everyone wants to go to heaven<cry>.

It's clear now that Corbyn will not resign after getting thrashed in the election, so I must hope that the Party Conference in September manages to change the leadership election rules. This is Ed Miliband's legacy. BTW, does anyone know what became of the Edstone?

I like Diane on 'This week' but then again she does not have to do any thinking on that programme... just sit there and look pretty <ok>
The fact that Jeremy is "not embarrassed in the slightest" by her bumbling performance shows he's got no interest in winning
Today's spreads -

Con 385-391

Lab 160-166

Lib 25-28

SNP 45-48
I'd take that, there's plenty of time left for Team Corbyn to wreak more havoc on their own party, as Diane Abbott proves.

Corbyn is happy just to be the Leader of the Labour Party <ok>
Yep. You can see how he loves the adulation of the Corbynistas as he talks about all the wonderful things a Labour government will do, while knowing full well he will never get that responsibility. Whatever he says publicly,he knows that.

Nothing wrong with being a pacifist in all honesty. There's too many good looking women to chat up and too much whiskey to drink, as opposed to getting your brains blown out for some old bint sitting in a palace.
