Good on Meghan and harry for the interview. Doesnt surprise me to learn of racism within the royal family. Surely they cant kill another princess off.
Hmmm, i just saw a small clip where Merghan mentions that. If it was a joke or a casual comment in passing that would be crass and maybe misinterpreted. She says the person was CONCERNED about the colour of the skin of the baby. That has far more dark undertones to it and if this was the case no wonder they feel like whoever said it was a racist
So many instantly write off and attack when there is suggestions of racism. I’m not saying that that the suggestion should be instantly accepted without any scrutiny, however it’s quite telling with the way certain elements in this nation have reacted.
The problem is we don't know the context. And Harry is mega mega sensitive. It could be "I wonder if your child will have a fair and freckled complexion like you or a darker complexion like Meg." And for that, you say he should never speak to any of his family again?
She essentially said it was not Queeny. I think we can all guess who it was...some one famous for unfunny and crass remarks about people's racial characteristics....who I would put money on has a least some of the characteristics of Alzheimer's. This is a very nasty and sordid little interlude and does no one any good on either side.. Harry and Meghan wanted privacy, but they go on the biggest show in US and say all this, including telling us the sex of their new baby.. Privacy?!!! I really ain't no monarchist..and personally would ask the whole lot of them to go into retirement, please. But this is just sordid
Beth they said on both news stations today that it wasn't the Queen or Phillip who allegedly made comments. She will not give the name either which is strange after everything else she has said. I wanted to know why her Father wasn't allowed at her wedding?
Agree, if that really is the case. We really need to hear from the person concerned. It sounds like something Phillip would say. It'll be interested to see how the Palace responds to this, but even so, if I was in Harry's family, I'd be terrified to speak to him or his Mrs in case I put my foot in my mouth after a drink or too and next, it was broadcast across America PS just seen Ellers's post that it wasn't Phillip. My next bet would be Andrew
The snatch of the interview I saw...not the whole...but Meghan said she would not say, but followed it up with saying she had full respect for the queen....so that rules her out. No where I saw ( but only saw selected clips ( because to be honest I don't care that much).did she say it was not Philip. Regarding her father, that was not the palaces fault. I believe it was his choice not to come.... remember her mother and father are not speaking and he sold his story to the tabloids before the wedding, then had surgery on a heart condition. I remember a leaked telephone call regarding Meghan asking her father to come. All weddings have these dramas...but I do not think you can blame the palace on that one
I’m not saying the royals are perfect, far from it in some cases. However Meghan is a social climber and her past proves that. I think it would be unfair to start accusing members of the royal family before they have had a chance to speak. I was flicking channels this morning and caught 2 minutes of Piers Morgan ranting. Interestingly he said that he had spoken to one of the bullying victims and said that when she speaks about Meghan people will have a different opinion. My main problem with all of this is that if you want a quiet life then don’t go on Oprah or announce your baby on Twitter and have press pictures... it really is that simple.
I must admit it did have me thinking when I found out that we were having twins, as to what colour they would be. I had heard stories of one twin being born black and one white and my mates ripped into me mercilessly through the Mrs pregnancy about it. Funny that they both look ‘white’, whereas my Mrs is obviously mixed race (along with my daughter).
Or it could have been, "I hope your baby isnt too black as we dont want them in the royal family". And for that, you say that they shouldn't talk to him again?
It's interesting you say that, Stainsey. It may be natural for parents and others to speculate, rather than feel this was a barred subject. And it goes beyond race. If, for instance, Harry had married a white girl, it might have been just as likely that one of his relatives would ask whether Harry thought his newborn child would be a ginger tosser (copyright - Game On)
Can't see that, can you realistically, Bob? Even when the cover this period in the next episodes of The Crown
I suppose we dont know the context of the conversation and we probably never will. We dont even know if its true or not. To be quite frank, I really dont care either way as I think the Royals are a complete waste of time. There are much more important things going on in the world to be bothered about this story. Assumptions are all based on heresy and media propaganda, just like everything. When did facts and evidence become less important?
Some old twats are really set in their ways and there are some old twats within the Royal family. Never say never.
