Are we any further forward? I actually cringe with embarrassment when watching 'live at the commons'. That room of people run our country??!!! I have honestly witnessed better behaviour in a kids nursery. Other countries must watch that and think what a shambles. I think the only chance the opposition ever had was if the DUP were to side with them, but hey, money talks. I don't see this as a victory or loss for anyone. What happens now? Will the ERG just cave in? Am I right in understanding that if the government had lost last night then they had 14 days to prepare for a 2nd vote on the confidence motion?
Bloody hell Bob welcome back to the.... whatever.

Nothing has changed other than the date getting closer.
couple of points... DUP would never side with Corbyn. That is not about money. You are correct re 14 days but it never would have happened.
This is how it goes.
A 'no deal' is the default option. Nothing has to be agreed or done. In some respects it's the easiest option. It is written in law that we leave on March 29th. When MP's triggered article 50 (which 80% did) they all knew or should have known what it meant, The Chukka's and Cables can moan all they want but it's unto the government to decide on scrapping a no deal (which they shouldn't as it's her best bargaining chip). To change it they would need to change the law which is difficult (especially as they knew what the document was about). If they did this it would constitutionally bad and goes to show how they are putting their self interests first.
That's why I took the beer bet with Watford as other than an extension, we will be leaving. Maybe I was wrong, we shall see. Asking for more time is an excuse for a second vote.
Problem is now:
. If May goes for a soft Brexit, she will split the party. The huge amount of Tory members wouldn't stand for it
Basically she would kill the party and be known for that and she won't let that happen.
. If she goes for a hard Brexit the 80% of remainers in the house will try and change the law to stop it. With bercow in charge, they would probably get their wish. This would then leave her in zombie land and a GE would be needed. As I said constitutionally it would be a nightmare
. Labour can't rely on Corbyn who wants out of the EU.
. May won't want a referendum as it will be seen as a betrayal and the Tories would get hammered at next election.
. Labour don't really want an election as over 100 seats were in a leave constituency.
I don't have the answers other than stay calm don't give up a no deal as it works in our favour for bargaining.
What is being overlooked is that the EU is flatlining. Germany and Italy near recession. Greece Poland France all struggling. They will want a deal as it could break them up. We just need strong leadership and cool heads.
