My point was simply all politicians lie, and lie repeatedly. Farage is a consummate liar and contrary to his 'blokey' appearance is surrounded by a cabal of thugs who are essentially his minders, not a pleasant bunch at all, I've seen them at first hand.

Corbyn is unreal, always made out to be a cuddly figure with his 'nicer politics', he is also happy to let his Momentum thugs do his dirty work for him. It's also amazing how poor his memory is when caught out, such as he was 'there but not involved'.

I'm not taking any sides as my contempt for our politicians is beyond repair...

Farage would be mad not to have a coterie of bodyguards. There are plenty of hotheads out there that want to do him physical harm. Lily Allen would give him a handbagging if she was sober.

Frank Field, one of the most respected MP's in the house, intimidated, unwilling to tolerate a menacing antisemitism and forced to leave the Labour Party. This is getting like the 1930's.

Yep. Frank Field is a thoroughly good politician, but he simply couldn't stay in Corbyn's racist, bullying, Marxist party.

Evening Standard reports:

"Emmanuel Macron is urging the European Union to agree to a close relationship with the UK after Brexit, according to reports.
The French president aims to use an EU summit next month in Salzburg, Austria, to push for a new "alliance" between the bloc and Britain, The Times reports.

A new Continental structure would see "concentric circles" with the EU and Euro at its core and the UK in a second ring, according to the newspaper."

At last, some sense from the EU (and from Macron, who until now, has been the most hard line of the EU leaders). Instead of alienating the UK with a no deal, they'll work to accommodate the UK within Europe but outside the Union and the Euro. Despite the UK's Remain "Help, we're going to fall off a cliff!" politicians, it never made sense that the EU member states would poke themselves in the eye with a sharp stick with a no deal which would damage their respective economies greatly.
Looks a bit more promising alongside what Barnier has been saying. Will Mogg et al be happy being within a ‘concentric circle’ of Europe, with France and Germany at its heart? Frankly if we get a deal and it pisses him and his mates off, I’ll be delighted.

Frank Field is a Thatcherite, he should have left Labour decades ago. Another man whose ‘principles’ have given him a 40 year career on taxpayers money, of which he has spent one whole year accepting responsibility as a minister, before finding it all too much and resigning to criticise others and be smug.

But Corbyn’s Labour is no place for anyone with a brain and a conscience.

Unless you're a card-carrying Wolfie Smith you won't fit in with Jezza's vision, God help us...

Yes, it's sounding good. Any deal that keeps us close to Europe and pisses off the Little Englanders and Rees-Mogg's loony band will do me.

If we get mutually beneficial trade with Europe, security cooperation etc, no payments in, border control and are free to make our own laws and trade with the rest of the world unfettered, then I don't see what the Moggster would complain about. We're in for an interesting 3 or 4 months

As long as we can travel away from the mess as and when we feel no longer care who does what

I hear Mogg wants a soapy tit **** off Juncker as a part of the deal. But to be fair he is also happy to be Matteo Salvini and Viktor Orban’s gimp as well.

Earth is set for BIG FREEZE as sun goes BLANK for majority of 2018

THE sun has been void of sunspots for more than half of the year asm scientists believe the Earth could be in for a huge cold snap.

NASA predicts solar minimum will be at its lowest by 2020
NASA has predicted that solar minimum, a process the sun undertakes every eleven years is set to be at its lowest by 2020. Solar minimum occurs when sunspots slowly disappear, causing activity on the sun to be reduced and a cold front over the earth.
Scientists are reporting that the sun has been free of sunspots for a total of 133 days this year.
With only 241 days of 2018 passing, that means the sun has been blank for the majority of the year.
Experts warn this is a sign that the solar minimum is on its way.
Website Space Weather says: “The sun is spotless again. For the 133rd day this year, the face of the sun is blank.
“To find a year with fewer sunspots, you have to go back to 2009 when the sun was experiencing the deepest solar minimum in a century.
“Solar minimum has returned, bringing extra cosmic rays, long-lasting holes in the sun's atmosphere, and strangely pink auroras.”
The sun follows cycles of roughly 11 years where it reaches a solar maximum and then a solar minimum.
During a solar maximum, the sun gives off more heat and is littered with sunspots. Less heat in a solar minimum is due to a decrease in magnetic waves.
The sun was not expected to head into a solar minimum until around 2020, but it appears to be heading in early which could prove to be bad news.

Cold weather forecast: Sun goes BLANK for majority of the year - Earth set for big freeze (Image: GETTY)
The last time there was a prolonged solar minimum, it led to a ‘mini ice-age’, scientifically known as the Maunder minimum - which lasted for 70 years.
The Maunder minimum, which saw seven decades of freezing weather, began in 1645 and lasted through to 1715, and happened when sunspots were exceedingly rare.
During this period, temperatures dropped globally by 1.3 degrees Celsius leading to shorter seasons and ultimately food shortages.

Vencore Weather, a meteorological website, said: “Low solar activity is known to have consequences on Earth’s weather and climate and it also is well correlated with an increase in cosmic rays that reach the upper part of the atmosphere.
“The blank sun is a sign that the next solar minimum is approaching and there will be an increasing number of spotless days over the next few years.”

Panasonic's decision was driven by a fear that Japan could start considering the UK a tax haven if it cuts corporate tax rates to attract business, Mr Abadie told the Nikkei Asian Review newspaper.
If Panasonic ends up paying less tax in the UK, that could render it liable for a bigger tax bill in Japan.

It said it was doing so for several reasons, including "improved efficiency and cost competitiveness".
It said "fewer than approximately 10" people would be affected out of a staff of 30.
"No Panasonic UK business operations will be affected by the EU headquarters move," the statement added.

Prefer Field to most of the others.
Seems genuinely principaled.
Corbyn's Labour is looking very sinister indeed these days.

Agree on Labour.

I’m not surprised you don’t mind Field, as I recall (forgive me if I’m mistaken) you also liked Mrs Thatcher (no I’m not going to have a pop at her). They liked each other and shared many opinions. Field is principled, but he is ineffective and his principles have never been in tune with the bulk of party he has used as a vehicle for his ‘career’ for decades - similar to Corbyn until he found himself in a position he can’t cope with by mistake. It’s easy to have principles if they are never tested by having accountability, as Corbyn is discovering. It’s how well you preserve your identity and direction while compromising and actually managing things that impresses me, not how quickly you flounce out. Until she lost it at the end Thatcher was actually superb at this. May is the reverse, all compromise no substance.

For forty years Field has had little or no impact on policy. Unlike Mogg, who has a huge influence without any accountability, or seeming willingness to take accountability, which I find pretty scary.

It’s 20 actually Goldie :)

(I was of course being sarcastic in my earlier post ;) )
Found the ideal football club for you Stainsey, much closer to home than St Pauli.

Clapton Community Football Club (Walthamstow) formed this year, have an away kit (deliberately) in the purple, red and yellow colours of the International Brigades who fought Franco in the Spanish Civil War, with ‘No Pasaran’ (they shall not pass) embroidered on the collar and adorned with the three pointed star symbol of the Brigade. They expected to sell about 250 of the shirts (a reasonable £30) a year, but already have orders for 2600 from Spain, where somehow the news spread before the team has played a competitive game. The shirts are made in Italy by a small, ethical manufacturer which makes sure workers at all points of the supply chain are properly paid. Right on!

You may also like their Ultras - motto ‘sometimes anti social, always anti fascist’. The more I read about this mob the more I like them. It’s a proper open membership club, I’m very tempted to join.

As my Dad was born and brought up in Walthamstow before moving to West London in his teens, I feel I have a legitimate interest and will be following them closely.

That’s interesting mate.....ive been following Clapton F.C. (loosely) for a few years and knew there was a dispute between the fans and the club but ‘cos of work and ‘our’ club I haven’t read much about what’s happening over there for a while.....I’m assuming this is a new club formed by the fans ?
I’ll try to read up in it over the weekend as I’ve only just got up after a night block.....(first cardiac arrest this week, so feeling a bit weird and strange :( )
