I know, Defoe reacted to a bad tackle from behind, both players were booked for their actions and Defoe never did it again. This is why i aske for context, it was a reaction to a foul, not a pre-meditated assault.

Defore gets booked Suarez gets 10 games. No matter how you try water it down, which you are, by saying the number of times by Luis and Defoe got booked and never did it again, you are way off the mark, had Suarez not done it first time round, 8 games is what he would have got from the FA, they added two to the dutch ban to make it 10

Do you really think he would have got off with it had it been his first time biting? Really? If yes, I have nothing more to say to you really :D

I shouldnt really have to say I am not defending him, I am obviously slating the FA here.

Duncan Ferguson got jailed for a spontaneous headbutt during a game in Scotland, Roy Keane gets a fine and ban for a premeditated assault on Haarland.

Football is and always has been full of unequal punishments.

Keane should have been arrested on the spot. That and Thatcher on Mendez the worst I have seen ever. 2 cases of GBH

Thatcher got what 13 games banned but only 6 or 8 by the FA. The rest by his club

Fairness doesn't come into any of this

Lfc fans would sigh in relief and laugh if the guy got a crappy little sentence.

Equally other fans would laugh if he got a 12 month global ban

Who the f gives a damn whether Defoe got this or jones got that and so forth

I don't..... You're all just butting heads pointlessly as FIFA will do what they do and the butting of head will move on to the wrongness or rightness of the sentence depending which side of the pissing contest you resid

Bit different this Page, Keane could not have been thought of as premeditated until he admitted he had planned to "get him one day" in his book. At the time it just looked like a really bad tackle.

Yes, he was not reacting to a tackle, he was not trying to win the ball. He was trying to provoke a reaction from the defender in an attempt to win a desperate penalty (the same as he tried with Ivanovich). This is why his bites happen in the box when his team need a goal.
