Problem is the cat's out of the bag given their history of "bending the truth" and not fulfilling promises. It''ll need to be someone either very desperate or extremely gullible to ignore their reputation or believe their sales pitch. Doesn't bode well.

No, but we live in hope. I'm hopeful that the egotistical smarmy lying bastard manages to pull a rabbit out of the hat. Probably more wishful thinking than anything else.

I think a lot of football clubs have problem owners/chairmen who make a manager's job a poisoned chalice, but the managers keep going to them because they get a good payday and at the end of the day their reputation seldom suffers as people don't blame them if it doesn't work out. On this basis, we could get someone decent or someone desperate and us fans will accept them whatever as no choice in the matter.
