If true it will be interesting to see how a Russian gets on with our Owners Also, he has a good relationship with Abramovich - maybe get some Chelsea players on loan.
Apparently he said in an interview he'd be happy to go championship. Apparently been learning English in London so sounds similar to Silva from that point of view.
It's definitely not Slutsky. It's a Martin O'Neill and Chris Coleman combination. Source: I had a dream about it last night.
He did an interview with Sky Sports recently and said he learnt to speak English in a couple of months. He has lived in England since leaving Russia and goes to a lot of games. Apparently Abromovich is acting as his agent/mentor, has helped him settle, and is a close friend. Will be interesting to see how the Chelsea link would work for us player wise, could be very useful
Anyone else not thrilled about the thought of Slutsky being our manager? He's won the league in Russia 3 times on the bounce which is good.. but doesnt have any experience getting a team promoted. His English will be poor and he's never worked in this country before but neither did Silva before managing us. I dunno... just something about him doesnt fill me with confidence. I thought the idea was to look for the next Silva.
He's not even confirmed yet lol. I would have thought a foreign manager with a great winning record with a passion to work in England that led him to quit his continental job to learn English is pretty similar to Silva. [emoji14]
Jesus wept!! It's not confirmed we are in talks with him yet, never mind he has not actually been offered the job and he is getting slagged off!! Never managed outside of Russian - ok, Fergie had never managed outside UK, Kopp had never managed outside Germany before Liverpool, Wenger had managed in a crap league in Japan, Bruce never outside of England, and Mourniho started off as a translator! Slutsky has managed the top team in Russia alongside running the national side, think that qualifies him to run championship club His English may not be perfect but sounds like he has been studying English since coming here, has lived in London a while now, and at a guess the interview (if he has actually had one) would have been carried out in English and not Russian. I think it's fair to say he will have a decent grasp of the language. At least give the guy a chance
Don't worry. He's Russian. One of those looks and all the players will know what is waiting for them if they don't perform.
He didn't start as a translator, he had jobs before doing that. And just a point - you start your post stating we haven't confirmed we're in talks never mind offering him a job and then you ask for him to be given a chance. How can we if the former hasn't happened?
