This very sad news is going to take a little while to sink in. Condolences to Pat, Deon and Dave's (BrixtonR) family. Any further details shall be posted in due course. RIP Brix. Nines.
F.U.C.K.....It is real..! RIP to a great man. My thoughts are with the family.you'll always have a second family here. Sad sad day !!
This is so sad, as has been said by all, David was a true gentleman, very approachable, solid and reliable! He will be sorely missed by all! RIP David
Queenslander, thanks for making me aware via the Canary board. I had quite a number of dealings with David over the last 2 years from the days when we were moderators in arms (so to speak). It is rare, incredibly rare, that I read anything on here that has a significant impact on my normal day but bugger me! If this is for real (and sadly I guess it could well be) then I am truly devastated to read this and fighting to hold back the chocking sensation I am currently experiencing. I regarded him as a friend, though of course we never met, through our correspondence that was done in the background on here, we shared very similar views on life and our respective teams and seem to have shared many of the experiences in the past. David (BrixtonR) RIP - I will not forget you - top bloke!
"There are currently 87 users browsing this thread". This says all you need to know. Top bloke, well liked by all on here and I'm sure beyond. RIP.
Brix Jr Please accept my condolences and sympathy at the loss of your father - am a Moderator from the Leicester board. The forum is a bit like a family itself and I'm sure your father will be sorely missed and not just on the QPR board.
Only met brix after the Bolton debacle last season. Purely a chance encounter with him and roller; gutted to hear the sad news. Thoughts with his family
yeah I posted on a few other teams and message boards. this one is gonna run for a while..and rightly so!..deserves all the plaudits he gets.... mods..could this be made a sticky..although I doubt it would need it!
Sad to here he's gone, welcomed me when i joined here, and seemed like a great guy. Thoughts with his family.
To say I'm shocked is an understatement . The tears are flowing, and to say he had my utmost respect doesn't do him justice. Your dad was a wise man and taught me a few things about life in our messages, and he will never be forgotten. RIP David
Sincere sympathies to the Brixton household... and all us on here ... live your life to the full ... don't put anything off ... do it Really nice to have met him on Sunday but there it is for all to read ... rarely do we have any idea at all how long we have been gifted on this rock. Love and Laugh
My deepest condolences Deon, to you and the whole family. We only saw him last Sunday before the Newcastle match. I knew that David was ill, but had no idea he was that unwell. Your mum and I had a good chat as we walked from the pub to the ground, she gave no indication that he was any worse. As you know, he and I went to several matches together last season. He was a good man to watch matches with, his clear insight always gave him a head start over me in analysing players and he had a good eye for tactics; but he always up for a laugh, a reminisce over the good old days and a moan about the current lot. I greatly enjoyed those match with him. Talking to him, it was obvious that he was a very clever man with a fantastically sharp brain. Being a mod on this forum was right up his street, he'd spent his working life organising people, laying out structures and persuading people to following them. We will sorely miss him. He was also very proud of you and always told me how you were doing. Funnily enough your mum was saying to me on Sunday, when we were talking about the current shower of players and modern day society, how you always used to complain about having the strictest parents but now greatly appreciated it. Sorry Dee, I'm struggling to write coherently, please pass on my deepest condolences to Patty and the rest of your family, and if there is anything I can do to help, do not hesitate to ask. RIP David
Tragic news indeed - puts football rivalry into perspective. Deepest condolences to family and friends.
I can't believe it. Absolutely devastated. Brix was one of my favourite posters. Level headed, calm, wise, and more to the point helped me out a great deal as a member on this board and others. I can't speak highly enough about his contribution to this forum and how much he supported me as member. R.I.P Brix and sincerest condolences to your family
What to say...I'm shocked and surprised to be reading this. BrixtonR as I always addressed him was a valued and respected member of our site community. I only ever knew the guy in the virtual world and much of our conversations took place behind site closed doors, he always come across as a level headed person and communicated himself well and with intelligence when approaching me to deal with site issues. In truth it was the only time we ever communicated, mainly because our support is for two teams three leagues apart, but although supporting two different clubs we shared one thing in common, the passion for our respective clubs and the game we love, hence why we are here to share our experiences. Now we share an experience in our virtual world of an event that is the reality of real life, just showing at the end of every keyboard is a real person and in this case a QPR supporter that gave his voluntary time for the community he loved. I don't know what else to say, sorry people. RIP
Very sad news, Deepest and sincere condolences to all Brix family and friends. RIP fellow football supporter.
Sad news, I met him for the first time on Sunday. He seemed to be very happy and that makes it even more of a shock. RIP.
