Ah M. Frenchie, Jay Rayner, son of Claire if i'm not mistaken. Nice family...lived in Harrow.

 

My aunt, long since gone, was a housekeeper in Golders Green and looked after a Jewish gentleman for many years. When he died he left her sufficient funds to buy a house in Bushey, where she became an absolute pain to my mother.

Talking about the surreal, Mme has been watching a French film on TV while I had a very hot soak. The plot so far goes like this.

Mother tells twenty something daughter it is about time she finds a man and settles down.

Taking heed of what her mother says, she starts an affair during the day time with a painter who comes in to decorate her apartment.

She then carries on with a second affair by web cam with some other guy during the night time. She takes her computer to bed and puts it on the pillow beside her and carries on talking to the web cam lover.

Daytime lover comes in to start painting and gets jealous of man on computer.

If I find out what the punch line is I will let you know, but I am off to bed now.

The end of the film, I am told, has the girl dumping her web cam lover and sticking with the decorator. Seemingly she wanted something she could get a grip of, rather than someone full of the right words. There are many films of this type, lots of talk and little action, leaving you wondering why the film was made in the first place.

Right, that settles that. Lovely morning again, temperature likely to be in the twenties this afternoon. A little breakfast, then off to the fields.
