And you mate.

Playing tomorrow for the first time this year, with my youngest son.

At Wyboston. A nice course, very pretty, lots of water.

I really need to make more of an effort on the course. We're a long time dead!

Well day 1 @ club champs and played like a ****, shot a 90 and am 9 behind the leader.
Couldn't put to save my life, 3 good birdie chances and I walked off with bogeys, greens wickedly fast today and the wind n rain didn't help.
Hey ho, day 2 tomorrow so hoping for a better round, here's hoping anyways lol

Well my first game for over seven months and **** me you could tell. Played at a course just outside of Basingstoke call Sherfield Oaks. The course itself was in excellent order; fairways excellent and the greens were superb. The massive problem was, and it spoilt the day for us all, was the rough. It was brutal! There was fairway, first cut of rough (which was tough) but the second cut of rough, if you can call it that, was knee high. It was ridiculously stupid.

During the last couple of weeks I have manged to hit a few balls on the polo field outside of back of my office and that showed today and quite frankly it saved what could have been an embarrassing score. My driving, usually the strong part of my game was pathetic. As it was I came in 5th (out of 20) with a score of 26 stableford points - so not too bad.

First game for me since last October. First 3 holes, bogey, bogey, par. 8 over after 9 holes. Not bad for a hacker.

But waiting on every tee box 10 minutes screws your game up. Waiting on a tee box behind another group watching another group nobble their tee shots 30 yards was just depressing.

Driving was good, putting 6 feet past the hole on glass greens was frustrating, but...

I'm playing again and that's the main thing!

Should have been in medal today...however what may be euphemistically called an upset um has laid me low, I cannot be too far away from the big white telephone.

That may be too much information, besides which my swing is all over the place I am either getting pars and the occasional birdie or it is complete cock-up...no in-between atm

Day 2 of club champs yesterday and i served up another parcel of ****e.....89.
That's the equivalent of me playing to a 22 handicapper, 10 shots above what i play at on a regular basis.
i am putting it down to lack of sleep and my flu/cough that kept me up all fri, sat and last night :emoticon-0106-cryin
Its a ****ter when you wait all year for the major event and you play crap.
Anyways got my singles knock-out on wed with the runner up in the club champs and our pairs knock-out on Saturday, if i manage to play around my handicap for both games i should be ok, here's hoping then <laugh><laugh>
Hope all you golfers who took out them sticks with things on the end had good games :emoticon-0105-wink:

kills the game when you have to wait on your shots, one of my pet hates.
8 over after 9 holes aint no hacker mate....what did you finish with after the 18?

not played Sherfield mate but heard good comments about it, Southwood has let the rough grow up but its not too bad.
!7th is still closed and will be for the foreseeable future, cant get the mowers on to cut the grass as its still waterlogged :emoticon-0108-speec

We walked off after the 15th mate. It got to the point there were at least 2 groups waiting on every tee. Some rumbles of thunder convinced us our time would be better spent in the bar. My card was going downhill after the 10 anyway.

Wyboston GC is a very pretty but short course Crumble. Even a hacker can post a good score there.

My lad plays off 13 at his club. I think he was 3 over after nine. He can almost drive some of the par 4's and he was almost a driver and wedge into the first par 5.

I once shot a 120 because of slow folk not obeying golf etiquette and letting us through. I was fizzing by the end and let them know how I felt <laugh>

There are times better spent in the bar than on the course, both Saturday and Sunday were days like that for me.
A 14 handicapper shot a 3 over par round at ours on Sunday to win the club champs, came from 7 behind!!

8 over after 9 is actually pretty good mate!!! I'm usually around that to be honest. Good to see that you've picked the game up again.

ours is a public course and we get all sorts on there so know how it feels, longest round i have played was over 5 hours due to a 3 ball not letting anybody thru, and they were members! They knew they should let the following groups thru when they were in trouble etc but they just ignored everyone, there was some **** in the clubhouse afterwards lol.

After a dodgy tummy weekend looking forward to a game this morning...but I open the curtains and it is pissing down.

The weather app says rain most of the day
