3 iron, 7 iron, Gap wedge (50), putter. The first 2 clubs can get me up to 400 metres, so would still make most par 4's in 2

I'm guessing 1*3i plus 3*7i gets Nordic on the green in 4, 2 putts for a double bogey<whistle>

Just what i am thinking, 400 metres is about a driver and 6 iron for me, Nordic must be a beast!

    i did say up to 400 m!!

I can hit my 3 iron ( off the tee) 220m consistently; with practice i can hit it a bit longer.
7 iron 160m consistently, bit longer with practice.
    gap wedge 110m.
putter - needs a lot of practice!!

I binned my driver for one season, on advice of a pro and my scoring was much, much better that year.... always hit the fairway off the tee, then short iron into green.

but the temptation to get the driver out is too much, esp par 5s i can hit in 2. when it works it is long. when it doesn't it's army golf in the bushes/rough..which is too common. it's why i bought a 2-iron.

3wood 5 iron, pitching wedge and putter. Use the 3 wood from tee and on fairway along with 5 iron. Still **** with my short game.

Knock-out last night and i was knocked out <laugh><laugh><laugh>
Played a 13 handicapper, (current vice captain of the club) so was giving him 1 shot on stroke index 1 obviously.
It was a tight game with never more than 1 hole in it all round and getting beaten on the 18 was a little disappointing as i went 1 down on the 17th after totally ****ing my tee shot up on the 160 yard par 3.
He only needed a half on the last which he got.
Good game though and good company on the way round which is always nice.
I finished 1 over my handicap with a net 69 and he finished level with a net 67 which made the difference.
Pairs match this Saturday so hoping for a change of fortune for that match.

sounds like a canny tussle. bugger to lose at the end, but often happens that way. Love matchplay.

I'm off to blighty for 'holidays' tomorrow, so will be playing a bit of golf up north...weather/wife permitting. My nephew plays at Slaley Hall, so I've promised to thrash him - he's a bloody Mag, so will be doing my best. A week in the North east,m followed by 5 days in the Yorkshire Dales - not sure I'll get much golf in on the latter part - any Yorkshire golfing suggestions, anyone?

Don't really know any courses near the sales but in terms of Yorkshire, Ganton is the best place. Rudding Park, near Harrogate is pretty decent, if not a little exposed. Tbh, I'd enjoy the dales. Don't want golf to ruin a lovely holiday haha

Not bad 45 points for better ball, nightmare when you get onto the dance floor and you cant get the ball down.
Was like that in my club champs, 3 putted a few of the greens and never had 1 decent put over the 2 days.

Got thru the pairs K/O on Saturday morning with a comfortable 2&1 win. We were never down and even got to 4 up at one stage.
My partner came good for a change and chipped in with a few pars on the shot holes which was nice.
Played a medal on Sunday and was dog ****, shot a net 76......10 over my handicap??
The wife played her pairs match against the favourites yesterday and they won, massive shock rippled thru the ladies section at the result, probably the equivalent of Iceland beating England in the Euros lol.
Got nothing this week but have a roll up on the Saturday as the wife is off to Brownsea Island then my next round of the pairs K/O on Sunday. Win that game and we are in the semi finals.
Will let you know how it goes :emoticon-0107-sweat

The wife's birthday in September so just booked up Hellidon Lakes and country club for 3 days of golf.
3 games of golf, 2 nights in a superior room with dinner and breakfast included.
On top of that there is a 10% discount on drinks, how good is that.
Total price £180 each, couple of our friends are coming along as well.
Just have to get her a card now......happy days :1980_boogie_down:
