Played Castle Eden yesterday afternoon. The course is start drying out after being submerged over the last week.
16 of us going to Gullane on Sunday morning. Playing no.2 on the Sunday and No.1 on the Monday

Know Castle Eden well its okay, Gullane obviously a different proposition, hope its not too windy and wet

Isn’t there a course in seaham that has sandier soil? I fancy a round today but don’t want to be dredging through water!

Sharply maybe as Seaham gets quite boggy

I like Sharpley and I am thinking hard to remember which old Sunderland player it was, who was acting as starter for the seniors open, he is am a member there.

Sharpley should drain well and the greens are usually fast

Brancepeth

Played there a week gone monday. Lovely day and course in good nick for the time of year, greens especially, which didn't prevent me from playing like a novice(if I rode my bike like I play golf I'd fall off every 100yards for no apparent reason).

Excellent bacon bun but a bit less impressed with the lasagne

I had the home made corned beef pie and chips. It was great

Brancepeth used to have a really good caterer but he left . He’s now at Barnard Castle and the food there is excellent. Nice course also. :emoticon-0148-yes:

Supposed to be playing tomorrow but it isn’t looking good if this rain that’s forecast turns up.

Playing off 7 but it’s a struggle when I don’t practice and only play once a week or maybe twice if I play the comp on a Sunday.

Yeah catering staff come and go..

How did you get on with our 'Amen Corner" of 8 9 and 10. Did you play in the Texas scramble?

Despite the weather greens have been reasonably fast all season..we have a couple of very good green keepers, despite an idiot on the greens cttee telling them what to do.

Another post above mentioned Sharpley... obviously a new course but like Whitburn rain does not stay on the greens long, making the greens rapid

We were just a visiting group who play together at Barny. Our caterer certainly is on the ball and we've had some excellent functions there through the summer

Managed 8 Ok but complete Horlicks off the tee on 9 had me ball hunting in the undergrowth which at least meant I didn't have to try to read the green! Amazingly went out the back of 10 with tee shot but messed up coming back.

Had a great day and apologies if I seemed to disparage the lunch excessively, it was Ok.

Did you know the catering team you have at Barny used to be at Brancepeth.. they may also do Bishop

Knew there was a Bishop connection but didn't know about Brancepeth - they certainly try hard and have turned it around after things were let slide a couple of years ago.
Just about to phone them to organise a Christmas lunch for our golf group<cracker>
