It isn't even slightly personal. I get the impression he's a perfect likeable guy. I just comment on what I've seen. The only reason I've been going on about Fryatt all season is because he's the one who has me tearing my hair out with frustration. If other players do it I'll say it about them too.
I don't feel we're on a downward spiral. on the pitch, defence is good, midfield okay, just some goals and more strength in depth and we're away. off the pitch we're lean, mean and sustainable.
For me that's progress.
The defence is good but it has no depth, we're also lacking a keeper for next year. The midfield's average at best, full of players such as Evans and McKenna who City fans like but who won't get you promoted and the attack is for whatever reason, appalling.
Off the pitch we're probably too mean and lean and the only thing we'll end up sustaining is a midtable at best Championship team.
For me that's not progress.

I'd see being a sustainable midtable Championship team as progress and providing a solid base to go forward from.
Too many look for quick fixes and then grumble that it's all peaks and troughs.
The Club could do with a bit of PR to manage some 'fans' unrealistic expectations and encourage them to enjoy the whole day out without having their life hang on just the result instead of seeing the bigger picture.
if it was just the result we could toss a coin and get back to the boozing.
He criticises Fryatt as he is the one that has played every game basically this season, so on average he has had far more game time so he is going to get far more praise and far more criticism due to the amount he plays. However he may have scored 11 goals, however you can't say he has had a lack of chances, we create numerous chances, however basically every attackign player bar Koren has not scored enough. Evans, Mckenna, Brady, Stewart, King, Fryatt, Mclean, Cullen every single one of them has not scored enough, Evans you only have to look at the last game to show he hasn't taken his chances. Fryatt is a good striker, however he does take far to long on the ball and doesn't carve enough clear cut chances for himself. However as a side i don't think we gamble enough to get on the end of balls.
As a side i think we need to strengthen basically right throughout. We need more depth as it is clear we have struggled to freshen up the side when we have needed to. We need to get goals throughout our team, and we also need to try and get more men forward and supporting Fryatt which may in turn create more space for him and allow him more chances to score.
We get that PR force fed on a daily basis. Each to their own I guess, but I just can't see the appeal of wanting your side to finish midtable.

I dont think individually or collectively we are good enough. Nick's "system" just does not get enough players forward quickly enough. Take Le Fondres goal yesterday. Reading had 5 players in the box. When do we ever get anywhere near that many?
I've said it before 4-2-3-1 suits Koren but it also suits Mckenna. Nigel Pearson utilised it when he realised Mckenna couldnt get up and down the pitch like the player he was a couple of years ago.
Good reader of the game, good screen in front of the back four, but his passing when he did pass it forward wasnt good and mostly he slowed the game down or passed it backwards.
Its no coincidence we moved the ball quicker in these last 2 games.
Clearly the current PR's not working. I prefer a stable midtable base to build from over an unstable boom and bust that seems to be the logical outcome of some other peoples scenarios. I guess I prefer midtable over the delights of relegation or admin. I'm odd like that.

Dobbie signed for Blackpool at the end of the loan window. We sent Adebola on loan, so we should have brought someone in.
Unfortunately you are right, if there isn't some radical change then we will be back to relegation scraps. My gut feeling is they need shot of the strikers we have, as they have shown they are not up to it when really needed, I don't care about stats to say Fryatt is a great finisher or goalscorer, my opinion is he didn''t do the business when we needed him so whats going to change.
It's going to seem weird after me criticising his finishing but I actually don't think he gets the credit he deserves in terms of playing as a lone striker. He's said to like a big target man alongside him but from what I've seen he's done really well at leading the line even though he isn't blessed with the physical qualities that he would ideally have. The finishing thing is the only problem I have with him.

If you criticise Fryatt you're weird, if you criticise anyone else it's okay. I don't get it.
Just because someone's our best striker why does that mean they can't be a poor finisher? He could be the best of a bad bunch.
Chazz i agree, we have moved the ball far quicker in the past few games and its made a huge difference. I just feel we are to vunerable without Mckenna, we have no-one with his know how in the side, and we do miss him when he is at his best. However he was clearly playing poorly recently due to the fact he did need a rest and it should have come sooner.
It sounded from Barmby's interview today that he is committed to getting the best out of Cairney in future. I really hope it works and he becomes a key player for us. If it does he will be the ideal replacement for McKenna in the long term.
