Ok you don't get it. Let me try and explain. If you were to single out let's say Stewart or Mclean, anyone could understand and agree, because they have been really awful. But you have consistently slated Fryatt who scores nearly every time he gets an opportunity. That is a little bit weird !
Well just as easily as you said "Fryatt who scores nearly every time he gets an opportunity." I could say "Stewart's level of application and commitment have been second to none over the last few months." Neither of them are backed up by any kind of fact but it's very easy to just say somone is wrong. I've offered you and OLM several examples of the games where Fryatt has let us down and between neither of you have had any answer to any of those examples. Do you not believe me that they took place?
This arguement will go round in circles. 11 goals is not enough for our highest goalscorer if no-one else in the team is contributing to the goal tally. However the whole team are not scoring enough, the amount of wasted chances we have had is ridiculous, our shots to goal ratio has to be one of the worst in the league. Just because Fryatt has managed to score 11 goals and is oru top scorer, doesn't make him a good player it just makes him our top scorer. In numerous games if he had just got a quick shot away or had some finesse about him we would of won them games. Just because we criticise Fryatt doesn't mean we don't criticise others to, i used to defend Fryatt and i personally had numerous arguements with PLT about him, however you can not deny when he went two months without scoring that his goal drought affected our season seriously.
"Just because we criticise Fryatt doesn't mean we don't criticise others to" How very fair-minded of you......
Are you serious? He scores once every ten opportunities! ISTPLT, we better be careful - I think we're somehow treading dangerously into WUM status. And OLM, I don't get it - I can understand why certain unnamed users get called ****s etc because they are clearly spouting total **** and intentionally being WUMs, but when we're seriously trying to argue a point and genuinely believe it then why should we be ridiculed for it? And I know this part isn't your fault, but your word is law around here. If you call someone a ****, then half the board automatically assumes that they are regardless.
I like to back the players we have but for me Premier and Patty are right in what they think, lets move on next season with a few new faces and if that means selling Fryatt and Mclean then I won't shed any tears about it. I don't buy it that the midfield isn't up to scratch this year and we have a great defence, which leaves lack of goals and sorry to say it again, the strikers as our weak link.
I can't quite grasp the knocking of Fryatt. He may not be the most prolific forward, but at least he is scoring. McClean's work rate is second to none but he doesn't provide a goal threat like Fryatt or even King in the last few games. Fryatt is usually feeding off scraps, and most goals that he or Koren score are created themselves. The big difference is that the season we went up Campbell and Windass played off each other and we scored from all over the field. I like Barmby, but surely you have to play a system which suits the players you have, not vice versa and hope they conform. Only other option is to have a big personnel change in the summer to get those that do suit the system.
We might only need to sell a couple of players to get the new playing staff in, and I haven't given up hope of more investment from the Allams despite all the evidence to the contrary recently.
Everyone's entitled to their opinion and I've always accepted that Fryatt took too many touches, I've just got a bit tired of this Fryatt bashing, it's been pretty much a weekly basis for almost the entire season, regardless of how he actually performed in that weeks game. Couple that with the fact that he's contributed far more than Brady, Mclean or Stewart and I can't see that it's reasonable to blame our lack of goals on one of only two players who've actually scored regularly. PS - The second '****' was a joke.
If that's how you've perceived then I can understand the response, but I don't think he was trying to say that Fryatt alone was at fault. Either way it's a lot easier to blame someone who's involved in far more goalmouth action than other players. For example, Brady and Stewart should have contributed far more when it came to goalscoring but they haven't had that many clear-cut chances, therefore they hardly live long in the memory as opposed to a Fryatt, McLean or Evans sitter. As for the second '****', I know
a real lack of urgency to win the game again in my opinion.. we had the chances i know, but it felt like an end of season game to me, in the end cardiffs win probably made it irrelevant, but there was a stage where we could have been 2 points off with a win but you wouldnt know that from most the players attitude for me, i missed cardiff and boro this season and seems i missed 2 of the best performances of the season then i return to disappointment, so probably best i just stay away all next season
It doesn't matter who you criticise in the present squad, if we had signed (even on loan) a half decent striker in January we would be in the play offs now !!!
