Kane seems a bit thick really, I think he'll go with the 'I wanna go out on a high' and end up wasting his career at Spurs waiting for a trophy that will never come. Some of the others don't seem as deluded though. Eriksen, Vertonghen, Alderwierled, Rose etc have all seen the writing on the wall.
Proper fans used to value players who were loyal to their club.

A dying breed sadly.
It works better if the club is successful
Players like Giggs, Terry, Gerrard, all stayed at their parent clubs because they were winning trophies........

The only examples I can think of, of "good" players who stayed at their parent clubs whilst winning **** all are Shearer and Le Tissier.
The others likely stayed cos they were ****e.

EDIT: I know Newcastle werent technically Shearers parent club, but he is a Geordie and he supported them as a boy

Peter Osgood played 6 seasons at Chelsea before winning anything. Similarly Bob Wilson at Arsenal.

I have, actually, but you thought they were the 4th biggest club in Portugal so you were obviously confusing them with someone else.

Arguably they are, particularly at this point in time ... but you are really missing the point. I've been a student of footie since I was a boy, as was my old man, and that extended to the European leagues. Watched the 1968 European Cup final live and despite cheering on United in that (always support the Brits) came away with a new hero, Eusebio .. he stopped to applaud a save by Alex Stepney ... and not in an ironic or arrogant way like some of the egos today might. Great footballer, fine man.

But it's not just Portugal ... have a pretty good knowledge of all the major European leagues.. and South American.

Anybody that has will have heard of Guimares ... <cheers>

Bit before my time mate, that was back in the day, and like I said, players aint wired like that any more.

Advisors of Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil, 31, are trying to persuade the former Germany international to move to the MLS. (Mail)

However, it is also reported that Ozil is prepared to play the long game at Arsenal and outlast manager Unai Emery at the club. (Star)
