Why? We elected to bowl first last season and we lost by an innings inside 3 days. I've no issue with deciding to bat first.
Only 2 wickets you could put down to the pitch. Gubbins was unlucky and Vince played an awful shot. Yes the ball is swinging but that's a new ball for you. Doesn't mean you shouldn't bat first.
Which is generally the case with a new ball. I'm not saying it hasn't been difficult but on another day we might only be 2 down.
It's definitely become easier to bat as the ball got older. Shame Fletcha couldn't hold out until lunch but at least the RR is healthy. 98-5 is a bit different from, say, 60-5.
