Sets up super sporting Sunday rather nicely:

England in World Cup Cricket Final
Wimbledon Men’s singles final
British Grand Prix
Netball World Cup

Channel 4 now has a dilemma. British GP due to be broadcast live on C4. I would imagine C4 will get the rights to show the CWC final as they have been showing the highlights. I suppose one event will be shown on more4.

Sky are showing final on free channel. C4 won’t have it live

Less than 3% chance of rain in St John’s Wood on Sunday. Light cloud and a gentle breeze.
I wonder if what happened today and in the other semi might make the decision to bat or bowl first more complex. Both New Zealand and England exploited the conditions early in the day to great effect. Not a bad toss to lose IMO.

Very good point. I imagine Morgan will bat first if he wins it, but today shows we can restrict even the best batting sides, so as you say, maybe let Williamson have the choice.

I feel desperately bad for Vincey and Daws but it is the absolutely the right England XI out there today.

At the same time, Dawson is one match away from having a world cup winners medal to cherish for the rest of his life. I'm sure most county cricketers wouldn't mind that, all for the sake of being sub fielder for about 20 overs vs WI.

(I don't even think that Tom Curran has been a sub fielder!)

I do think if you win the toss you have to bat first - after all scoreboard pressure in a final is a big factor. But I wouldn't be gutted if England lost the toss on Sunday.

He's a pro with professional pride, he won't feel that he has fully earned a medal I reckon.
