The fourteen year six month career of D5179/25029 was spent allocated to depots on the Eastern, Western, Scottish & London Midland regions.
D5179 - D5182 were ordered without boilers which no doubt had a modest impact on their allocation history.
Like 25026 - 25028, 25029 spent its first seven years on the Eastern Region but then moved to the Western Region for five years service in the Welsh Valleys.
Shorter periods then followed for service in Scotland & the Midlands.

Ex-LNWR 4-4-0 3P Precursor class No 5188 'Marquis' is seen at the head of an up express service passing under the passenger footbridge on the through road during the 1930s. Built as LNWR No 412 at Crewe works in June 1904 it was originally named 'Alfred Paget'. It later it received its first LMS running number - No 5188 - in April 1926 and then in November 1934 it was placed on the duplicates list and gained its final running number - No 25188 - which it carried until April 1940 when it was withdrawn from service to be scrapped the following month at Crewe works.

-The eighteen year two month career of D5189/25039 included allocations to only London Midland Region depots.
Although many Class 25s followed very similar allocation histories and timeframes, there are probably very few similar to 25038 & 25039.
Both were delivered within a week of each other during March 1963, their allocation histories were very similar and they were both withdrawn on the same day, May 31st 1981, although their final demise would be at different Workshops.
