The Treaty of Paris of 1763 ended the French and Indian War/Seven Years' War between Great Britain and France, as well as their respective allies. In the terms of the treaty, France gave up all its territories in mainland North America, effectively ending any foreign military threat to the British colonies there.

The Stamp Act was passed by the British Parliament on March 22, 1765. The new tax was imposed on all American colonists and required them to pay a tax on every piece of printed paper they used. Ship's papers, legal documents, licenses, newspapers, other publications, and even playing cards were taxed. The money collected by the Stamp Act was to be used to help pay the costs of defending and protecting the American frontier near the Appalachian Mountains (10,000 troops were to be stationed on the American frontier for this purpose).

THE 1766 RELIGIOUS CENSUS OF IRELAND PART 1. Unfortunately very few census records exist for Ireland prior to 1901 due to the fire at the Four Courts Building in 1921. This fire meant the loss of extremely important genealogical data such as census records, parish registers and some wills. Fragments of the 1766 Religious census, hand written by Tenison Groves many years before this fire survive in fragments and have partially been microfilmed by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Following the repeal of the Stamp Act, Parliament tried to tax the colonies in 1767 by raising import duties, which became known as the Townshend duties, on certain goods. The colonists continued to insist that they could not be taxed by the British Parliament without proper representation, even indirectly by customs duties.

Greetings Woopert - cloudy morning been to the pool and thrashed the water again to a foam - sounds an interesting ferry ride my worst ferry ride was from Korcula to Dubrovnik on an old ferry - feeling very sea sick and there is nowhere to go as you cant just get off !!! forgotten what vice is like them were the days - going with the high command to get some provisions in prior to her going away why everything has to have "lite" or "skim" in front of it I just don't know there will be a sneaky pizza and maybe fish and chips and no one will know except me hoo bloody rah - ATB

Hello anti. Talking of worst ferry rides, mine was a few years back travelling from Penzance, in Cornwall, to the Scilly Isles. As soon as we reached Lands End, the sea became extremely rough, and everyone but the Captain was violently sick. The journey back was nice and smooth, but the thought of having to travel back ruined the day on the island ! Funnily enough when I go food shopping with the missus, I choose food items I like the look of, but as soon as my wife sees the item she immediately reads the saturated fat content, and puts it back where it came from ! The Food Police have forbidden me to have fish & chips because of the batter. Mind you, I have taken to sea bass - very nice. Have a nice day <ok>

Hey Woopert - its raining slightly and the high command has left for a week to the Southern Highlands to see her sister - bangers out of the freezer to be had with onion gravy spuds sweet spuds pumpkin carrots and broad beans from the garden - only you and I know so keep schtum - first meeting tonight of the new executive - so it begins - bevvies good afterwards though - I too like sea bass and will have some when back in 2016 - my dad who is 93 doesn't give a hoot about low fat this etc never seen him drink a glass of water has full cream milk anchor butter enjoys chips and has a vino collapso every night - when the bus comes along with your number that's it - now where's that cream bun ATB

This was what ultimately compelled a group of Sons of Liberty members on the night of December 16, 1773 to disguise themselves as Mohawk Indians, board three ships moored in Boston Harbor, and destroy over 92,000 pounds of tea. The Tea Act was the final straw in a series of unpopular policies and taxes imposed by Britain on her American colonies. The policy ignited a “powder keg” of opposition and resentment among American colonists and was the catalyst of the Boston Tea Party.

Lost in the JPT cup match last night to an extremely dirty Northampton Town. End result, three of our players injured. Still never mind, concentrate on the league. As I recall, according to Mr Banks, the tea was thrown overboard making it undrinkable.....even for Americans:)
 
In June 1774, Nicholas Cresswell needed to see a doctor. Cresswell was a twenty-four-year-old Englishman who had sailed to the colonies a month earlier seeking adventure. He was confident that America was where he could make his fortune, enabling him to declare his independence from his family back home in the English Midlands. We know this because Nicholas kept a journal of his adventure through which he describes his dreams and aspirations.
He also tells us that in June of 1774 he was journeying from Annapolis, Maryland to Alexandria, Virginia with a party of travellers when he suddenly fell ill. Persuaded to seek the care of a doctor, his notes provide us insight into what it was like to be a patient in the 18th century.
"I immediately gave him as hard a blow as I could with my fist over the face."

Hey Woopert - sunny day - last night had the tv to myself could do all the manly things that blokes like to do with no fear like break wind both ends etc cards today and dad shopping as I enviously gaze at all the lovely full fat high sodium stuff he puts in the basket - the high command phoned up last night and said "oh your home then" and when I replied well of course otherwise you would have phoned my mobile she got the hump - *sigh* hopefully a win against Mansfield then a luverly time in Londinium visiting family I presume - ATB

The year is 1775. The American colonies are outraged over new taxes imposed upon them by Great Britain. They begin to stockpile arms and organize militia. On April 18th, militia members ambush a column of 700 British Redcoats ordered to seize stockpiled arms. 273 British soldiers are killed or wounded before they reach safety in Boston. The American Revolution has begun!

Greetings Woopert - fine sunny morning been to the pool and done my bit along with a load of ladies riding Hydrobikes in the pool all the ladies bar one were of generous proportions so not long after starting there was a small tsunami so I retreated to the hydro pool then spa - hope the weather clears up for your week away - darts tonight so I can bring home as many plump birds as I want as the coast is clear not that that will happen but I can dream - see young Chambers got his call up tonight - we could have had a belter of a team if we hadn't sold all our academy boys still dream on - ATB
