I prefer a 'sweeter' malt, for example,Macallan,Balvenie,Glenmorangie,Jura,Oban etc but now and again I'll go for an Islay Malt, something like Bowmore or Bunnahabhain...With the exception being Laphroaig(that's a step too far for me,it's definitely an acquired taste).I like Filey whisky.
Slightly unusual taste at first, almost aniseedy but only a slight hint somewhere in the background. Not smoky, a bit of fruit in the flavour
It was a gift but I’ll buy it again for sure.
Like others I don’t think marks out of ten work for whisky. You either like it or you don’t and that even depends on lots of other factors. Sometimes I'm in the mood for a really smoky one like Lagavulin but sometimes fancy something sweeter.
If you're ever up in Scotland and anywhere near Pitlochry, you really need to go up to the Edradour distillery,it's the smallest in Scotland in a truly beautiful setting and their Malts are sensational!! They used to do a free tour with a complimentary dram at the end but I think they got fed up with me visiting and decided to charge for the pleasure.
Beautiful golf course and driving range just down from it too...
