That time of year again.
So why you all up to? Going away for Christmas? Usual at home?
Drinks you’re getting in?
Presents you’re after?(Lynx Africa)

Happy Christmas

I hope everyone is staying at home and not adding to climate change. No one will be buying anything with the cost of living crisis as the huge crowds of shoppers prove.

It's the first in our house together with the little one having moved in together in January. Just found out 30 minutes ago we need a new boiler, the cooker won't work without shorting the whole house and work needs doing on the car as well which I can't leave...

Despite that, we'll have a good Christmas. Taking the husky out in the morning with some of his friends, going to my parents for Christmas Dinner. My auntie and uncle are coming due to losing their daughter (my cousin) earlier in the year to heart problems. Then later on, either her parents house, or back home for the evening. Our little girl is 4 years old so it's going to be special regardless of all the misery surrounding everything.

Oh! And Boxing Day I'm taking my old man to the MKM for a big win hopefully.

The festive season is hitting full force on the Gold Coast. Was 36 degrees today. I finish work at 5am in morning for 28 days for the longest break I’ve had at Christmas since I was 17. Apart from a bit of painting around the house, I plan to not do much apart from fish, play golf and get pissed. It’s not the same as Christmas in blighty but it will do for me!

Channel 4 right now is a program about Quality Street and Roses Christmas chocolates, in the old adverts shown you can see just how much bigger the tins were compared to the little plastic tubs of today.

At home
Kids and grandkids all here for Xmas day and few days, and maybe Father in Law too.
First one for 35 years that I haven’t been working a big chunk of it.
Vegan Xmas dinner for us, but we’ll be doing turkey and a ham (in cider) too for the murderers.
Champagne & croissants for Xmas day breakfast, as is the tradition.
Can’t think of anything I want tbh, so me and Mrs Tash bought ourselves a pizza oven instead of getting gifts for each other.
All about the little kids init

Forgot to answer the drink question.
Plenty I think is the answer!
We tend to have drink in all the time anyway, because as well as liking a drink I also have some self control, so I’m not someone who needs to finish off what’s there…and couldn’t anyway!
So it’s more about having what people who might be here, or visit, like.
We’ll have whatever beer we always have in. Mostly Heineken, but some Peroni, then some bottled ales too, probably Hobgoblin or similar.
Also plenty of non alcoholic beer for someone who doesn’t drink or is driving.
My taste depended on mood, but usually a single malt. Currently on a bottle of Filey Bay which is really nice, but have several other from Scotland and one from Japan. Also enjoy a Havana Club 7 or other rum with a cigar.
Also like a cocktail though. So got some Bulliet Bourbon for Old Fashioneds, Whitley Vodka for Martinis and Tanquerey / Plymouth for Corpse Reviver No2s.
Courvoisier & lemonade for Mrs Tash, but we’ll definitely have Moscow Mules, Disaronno and Cranberry juice, and Salted Caramel Espresso Martinis on the go too.
Champagne for Xmas breakfast will be whatever is on offer really. Think we already have some Moët and a bottle of Taitinger in.
Haven’t made sloe gin this year as have loads left from last year (see I said I have self control!) and they seemed late this year too.
Have lots of bottles of mulled wine from Germany too which I’ll palm off on anyone passing because I don’t like it!
Red wine - Aus Shiraz & Côtes du Rhône
White wine - Coolwater Bay Sauvignon Blanc.
Loads of other random drinks too.
You’d be hard pressed to catch me out unless you want something very unusual.

Stock check complete!

I’ll raise a glass to you lot of course.

Happy Christmas
