You can never play it entirely safe Harry. I have the same name as a high profile footballer and constantly get abuse for it. Being 20 years older than said player I cannot really blame my parents!

Assume then that Dan Starkey is a pseudonym as on google your name comes up with a British actor who seems to have starred in Dr Who as someone called Strax - not that I recall such a character

It is indeed a pseudonym but when i first used it i had no idea it was an actor in Dr Who - i took it from the name of a character in a series of books <doh>

My fourth grandchild - came in the order girl, girl boy, girl is called Sylvia and I cannot help asking my daughter who is Sylvia and Where is she? She is not very amused I think but puts it down to my senility

As a peripatetic teacher, I tend to meet more pupils than a class teacher - and tend to get a little more fun out of some of the names I encounter. One such case was a young lass called Ruby - when I first taught her class four years ago, I got into the habit of calling her Ruby Tuesday as that is one of my favourite songs - and much to her embarrassment, I'd often burst into song in the middle of a lesson. She did take it in good heart though - at a school talent show, she stood up in front of the whole school and sang the song perfectly, bringing a tear to me eye...
