1 Simple question Carabuh & i would be amazed If you answer with a straight answer . Who would you chose as manager if you were McNally with the club as it is today with the current owners ?. You didn't want Hughton or Adams and you were probably correct about both being bad choices. Name your man.
I'd probably go for Rosler but I must admit Karl Robinson is sounding more appealing by the day. I'd also add Oscar Garcia. Others I'd be happy with but I think would be better as a long term project would be Aitor Karanka, I also think Jose Riga came across really well but would be a bit risky. I don't buy into the theory we need a bastard, we need someone with charisma an authorative aura and a bit of history for success. That is what will bring us success
Incidently, I don't mind the board employing managers that don't work out if there was a reason for employing them, Walker, Rioch, Roeder, Hughton all failed but you could at least understand why they picked them. Whereas with Adams, Gunn, Grant, Hamilton and Worthington there was really no reason to select them. They were just jobs for the boys and badly conceived so typical of how the club has been run. Its really only been when fresh input from outside of Delias cosy little group that we have had success. She has historically surrounded herself with her buddies only to suffer failure for the vast majority of times.
I agree With the second part but I would prefer Martin Jol still I am not sure what history for success Rosler has achieved or Carl Robinson for that matter. Martin Jol has managed Ajax and did a pretty good job and did well at Spurs plus he has a presence and fire in his belly. The latest odds are glaringly obvious that the bookies think we will go for the cheap easy appointment again and give Phelan his first managers job.
Just seen that the board hope to name our new manager by the weekend - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...il_warnock_an_unlikely_fit_1_3907706#cxrecs_s. Thankfully, it seems likely that Colin is not on the short list. OK, I know some would like him, but he wouldn't be my choice.
For thos that can't or don't want to wade through the text..... • Latest betting (as of Wednesday morning): Mike Phelan 1-2 Tim Sherwood 3-1 Oscar Garcia 8-1 Karl Robinson 12-1 Roy Keane 14-1 Uwe Rosler 16-1 Alan Stubbs 20-1 Brian McDermott 20-1 Nigel Adkins 25-1 Stuart McCall 25-1
As someone that has work in the gambling industry for the last 18 years the 16-1 price for Uwe Rosler would indicate that Carabuh and Supers will be dissapointed again and start getting on the new guy's back if we don't beat the Cherries on Saturday. Our 2 resident experts will no doubt be sharpening their knives within minutes of the new guy's appointment as per script.
I personally think that's a tad harsh - it's a fans debating forum, not a lecture hall, and their opinions and points of view are as valid as anybody else's. Whack them on 'ignore' if it offends thine eyes to that extent ! (on the subject of which, I assume the 'ignore' facility applies to the current site format?)
Certainly does Cromer and I agree with your "harsh" judgement, some on here believe they are right and nobody is allowed a different opinion!
It's a very easy stance Cromer I have opted for Jol so whoever get's the gig I can sit back and wait until the new guy (probably Phelan) doesn't miraculously get our under performing squad of ex premiership players to fly up the table in the next few months and say "I told you so" . I prefer to be realistic and give whoever is appointed a fresh start and hope we can turn the season around. Adams was not a disaster and could have probably got us into a top 6 position but he was never my prefered option but I backed him until the death. To be fair to them they did both put forward their choices Rosler & Robinson in that order but for whatever reason they are both unlikely to get the job . As to the ignore button , this is a fan's forum and not a lecture hall and I don't reply to posts that I think are not interesting and it's not a popularity contest either . I actually welcome Carabuh's posts and he rarely condescends others or makes out his comments are more valid than others . There doesn't seem to be many clear cut available options with a good pedigree that we could afford so many on here will be very unhappy with the latest manager.
Don't worry about it danary. We're not a ready made premier league set up for him to walk straight into.
I personally find comments like 'well if you were actually at the game you would know that changes should have been made by half time' when a poster is watching the same game on tv or a stream. Or 'well if you get your information from wikipedia' when discussing the CV of a potential manager to be a tad harsh and patronising. Ignore away but i don't bother as ignorance is pretty arrogant IMHO. I have nothing against any other poster on here but can see when some believe that their opinions are superior to others I don't claim to know better than anyone but consider myself quite well informed due to researching potential players on youtube or managers on wiki just because you sit in the same seat every week in the Barclay end it doesn't give you more insight into the running of the club.
Watching a game on a stream is not the same as being at the match though SN. We can all have comments about what we see and what the cameras show us, but when you are at the match you see more of what is happening off the ball. I watched most of our games on a stream over the last couple of years, but when I did manage to get to an actual game, it frightened me how bad we actually were off the ball. This is what the cameras don't show, and COULD be what other people at the game see that us or have to rely on streams see.
Thats exactly why i stopped posting on the Pinkun forum years ago.Too many on there who slam you if you dont agree with what they say.
In the scenario I mentioned we were 0-0 against Huddersfield at home after going behind in most games early on a clean sheet in my opinion was a good thing and changing the side before the break would be counter productive. Early in the second half Adams put on Redmond and Hoolahan and we came out with an easy victory. Still some were not happy saying that the changes should have been made earlier knocking the confidence of the players taken off after 20 or 30 minutes even though we were not losing and to my mind the manager did well winning 6-0. No I wasn't at that game but I watched it and was happy with the result.
And if I remember correctly some people booed at half time. The problem was that some fans were never prepared to give Adams a chance. It has come through on here. The start to the season, the 3 wins in Dec, the draw at Derby, wise substitutions were down to luck or bad play by the other team. Adams had to be judged on the bad performances or questionable decisions made. It was the same with Hughton and I fear it will be the same with the new Manager because there is nobody available who the majority of the fans want. I cannot come up with anybody who ticks even most of the boxes despite staying up all night scouring Wikipedia.
