Without starting another thread, and seeing as the 1980s thread is going backwards into the 70s, I'll take the 90s forward a second...... Just remembered after listing the likes of No Doubt and Rancid for the 1990s, did anyone get involved/remember in the mini-ska revival in the early 00's? P.Rock TV had just come out as a freebie channel on Sky and was a channel for old and new punk with a few ska additions. Bands sprung up like [spunge], Whitmore (who did the channel's theme tune), Capdown, Jesse James, Uncle Brian, King Prawn, Graveltrap etc...?
I remember No Doubt and how popular they were in 90s. Rancid were slightly more under the radar. It was abit weird when Gwen Steffani suddenly came out with her pop/ r'n'b album that was utter crap but ultimately popular among the teenie boppers.
Anyone watch Recess? Pure class. Gameboy, Megadrive and Playstation were awesome. Pokemon cards? They were like drugs, people got mugged for them and everything.
Haha. I remember the news telling about "the new trend coming to Sweden from Japan". I laughed at it, stupid cards, who would like to have them? Yeah yeah, I got addicted pretty quick haha. They were quality
byker grove and grange hill, pat sharp bit random but does anybody remeber ghostwatch? i **** myself. . as well as my 1st kiss, 1st finding my brothers porno stash.. 1st over the trouser co*k rub at a school disco..and v plates kicked into touch in my bedroom underneath my spice girls poster..ha ha.. good memories..
I remember a scary programme No idea what its called though. Was about a boy who went to an hotel with his grandmother (or something like that). And it turned out that some witches had a convention at that hotel. Something with mices as well, haha. Its all kinda blurry, scary ****
That's the film version of Roald Dahl's book the Witches. Was the bloke in my avatar in it and the women who played Mortisha Adams as the main witch? He wrote Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and the Twits amongst other things. Gladiators was a great show with Ulrikakaka and John Fashanu- i always wanted to go see them live. Wolf and Jet were the best.
That was some scary ****, googled a picture please log in to view this image Not healthy for a 5 year old
that ghostwatch was 1st played as real..and as i was only 10..i fell for it, .. they had to interupt match of the day, to admit it was fake as so many people had complained.. still kept me awake and has mentally scarred me to this day..
I remember another English tv-series from the 90s. It was about five friends and 1 dog, they went out on adventures or something like that. It was kinda like Narnia without the fantasy, haha.
Was it a cartoon? Sounds like Rugrats.. Did anybody watch Goosebumps? It was supposed to be scary but it was so bad it was funny.
Byker Grove & Grange Hill?? early 80s mate.. The 90s - uni days, student union, playing pool, wasting hours on world cup 90, being lazy, watching The Word, watching Jools, Grandstand listening to REM, EMF, Inspirals, James, Milltown Brothers, Roses, Saint Etienne, Pulp, Echobelly, Real People, Blur and Oasis, working in Hornsea Pottery factory, travelling to kibbutz, to the USA on Summer Camp, booze, birds and the odd joint, Ostend Beer Festival, working in The Windmill, Beverley, winning a Hull & District Alliance at golf, first teaching job in Russia, moving to Turkey meeting my future wife... then it all went downhill in the 2000s... until May 2008...
90s for me were dominated by Rave, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy (before they went **** in '97), Megadrive, Lemmings, Sonic the Hedgehog, Doom, and of course Sensible Soccer!! But Ghostwatch - bloody hell I remember that!! I remember thinking it was real up until a certain point where they just kind of pushed it too far and I thought it had to be a hoax. Great laugh though - think I was about 15/16 at the time.
The programme might have been from 90's, but the stories are very famous and are from the 40's. There was a brilliant spoof version called The Comic Strip presents 'Five go mad in.......', they're all on youtube, but you can't them here due to copyright issues, you might be able to access them from Sweden. If you're going to watch them, make sure you've got lashings of ginger beer............
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oF0n6xIsL_U Hell yeah, used to watch it, never scared me mind! 90's shows i remember from the top of my head - Rugrats, Recess, Pokemon, Digimon, Arthur, The Queen's nose, The Demon Headmaster (was actually scary for a 7 year old!), Power Rangers, Hey Arnold, Ed, Edd n Eddy and Bodger and Badger. Theres probably loads more i remember but those are the ones that stick out in my mind! Remember fights breaking out at school over Pokemon cards and school duly banging them and the time as an 8/9 year old i watched South Park at my friend's house and felt like a grown up watching it! Those were as they say the days, notice you have a 1991 in your name too, best year of the 90s!
I just remembered my favourite show ever, Bernards watch. It was awesome. If I had that watch I would be a right Perv Haha.
Oh god yeah loved that too, thank good it was in somewhat innocent hands, had Bernard hit puberty the watch would be used for entirely different reasons! Did you ever watch a show from about 97/98 called Noah's island? Had a polar bear on a floating island, loved it! theres a full episode uploaded on youtube i think, and thanks to this thread i'm looking for 90s tv show themes just to relive my childhood, feel ****ing old at 20!
