Lad gave his all, scored a winner at Wembley for the first time since 73 to give us something shiny to put in the cabinet. But it's clear from the caliber of players we're bringing in, he mimutes will be limited or none at all.

He has been here through the good, bad and goodish times and never hid, served under 3 different owners, never gave up even when he was playing in a team of quitters, piss heads and ****ers like that c**t Plodwell. And he loves this place. I'm genuinely getting emotional typing this. If anyone knows him on here or if he looks on here, tell him simply Thank You.
Top post John. Completely agree. Wish the lad all the best, he is welcome back on the terraces at the SoL anytime. Great servant in difficult times.

Love the lad. Will always be in my heart. The one lad that stuck on throughout our awful fall to help get us back on the up again. Much better player than some would suggest as well, and getting a deal at Stoke proves that point. We move on though, we have to, but always remember the memories.

Think the malt is kicking in, feeling soppy

Lovely words and you just know he means every single one of them.

****s sale, a bloke my age getting upset that a footballer has changed clubs

Yeah I don't tend to get too emotional about football but reading that got me a bit. Us supporters and him have been through a lot together.

Definitely going into the very small group of our ex players that I actually give a **** about and follow their career with interest.

Good luck to him, wouldn't even begrudge Stoke a little success now, despite Alex Neil.

Gooch was a great servant, he's a top lad and a superb pro. He'd have given 100% in goal if we'd asked him too!

It's good timing for both parties though I think. Best of luck to him.
