£10m for a 27 year old striker that’s played about 15 games of his entire career above league one level and has a year left on his contract is incredible business what are you on about :emoticon-0116-evilg

Palace spent less on Michael Olise who’s now a French International.

No excuses for the club not to bring in a few players before the window shuts.
did they up the offer to 10m....I've been out all day

No idea at this stage, but I do know that his injury finished the career's of some decent players. John Barnes lost all his pace after the same injury for instance, was never the same player again.
Exactly why I ask marra.

It's also why I'm a little surprised that a club is still taking such a big punt on him this window when they may have no idea what they may be getting. I know Southampton can probably afford to.

If it can be known at this stage how he will recover and if I was being cynical then I may question whether it is a coincidence that Southampton is the club he's off to with Mowbray's brother there...

I think it's a fantastic deal, considering the factors you mention, the severity of the injury and the question marks about his future, and the fact we paid bugger all for him. We've done brilliantly.

shame and i'll always have a soft spot for him, the feeling i got when that ball hit the net at Wembley will live with me forever. The only time i'll put 'hate' on him is when he plays against us
I agree but equally, could have signed a deal and chased the cash with his greedy agent. That’s the reality so not going to get soft on him. Just a shame when a good player leaves per se. Hope like **** we have a plan.

Will we know yet whether he's made/will make a sufficient recovery to come back to the same levels he was pre the injury? Maybe one for @Prehab26

Speaking as a Saturday and Sunday clogger who did his achilles in the eighties, he won't know how he is until he's played full on and took a few whacks on it, which of course will come.

I was ****e anyway, but after mine, I wasn't even the same ****e!
