On the Roker Report pages there’s a letter saying one of the reasons we find it hard to get some players to come here is their wags think the shopping here is rubbish.
What a load of bollox.
We’ve got Jacky Whites Market in our City centre.
Loads of Lidls and ALDIs.
We might be losing Wilko’s from the City centre but Poundland are interested in taking over the premises.
What more could they want.
Great, so I can get the metro to Poundland (directly opposite Central Station <doh>).

No. TBH. I think he would have been away already if Tone didn't come out and say so clearly that he was miles away from fitness (end of September/ October) a few weeks back. However, since then, he is back on the grass, playing behind closed doors friendly etc so clubs will now be away he isn't that far away.

I do wonder if that was a tactical statement by Tone to try and deter clubs from sniffing.
If that was the case then what was his thinking/tactic behind now declaring that he’s so close to a return?

I’m sure the club know this but you can’t be replacing Stewart in the final few days of the window after he goes. There’ll be a huge premium on anyone we go after.

Also, I’m concerned a bidding war with boro for Cannon. They are flush with cash after selling Apkom. Hopefully we won’t panic.

would be nice to spend the money on improving the squad as a whole. Could this inflow mean we can upgrade the wage structure and sign an experienced CDM? Thom Haye could move in the next few days and links to Toulouse/Besitkas have gone quiet. If you could get Van Hjoidonk and Haye for a sum total of 5/6 mil, I think it would be best to sell Stewart given that he won’t sign a new contract. Busy few days ahead!

Hopefully we'll soon be talking about new signings soon.

How much of a shock would it be if Stewart left tbh ...

... a man who trudged around the SOL, on the lap of honour, like a teenager who'd been asked to tidy his bedroom.

Let's face facts, he's had over a year to sign another contract and obviously won't. So let's get a bidding war started and sell him for as much as we can get.

The best thing, imo, about the club now is the fantastic team spirit. Players are opting to stay, when they could easily go, and signing new contracts. They obviously want to be part of what's happening at Sunderland ...

... Stewart obviously doesn't, f*ck him.

Some chat that Ross County have a sell on clause? Some outlets calling it "significant" but that's ultimately subjective as no-one seems to know what % would go to them

while i agree with you i would only sell after we get a replacement first we cant just leave ourselves short just because he had his head turned

cant make the same mistake as last season leaving ourselves short

I guess significant is relative. If the fee is over £5m then even a 10% sell on is significant for them

And I agree with you mate.

If we can't replace him let him help us to promotion upon which he'll either be happy to sign a new contract ...

... or the money we'll lose will become irrelevant.

I would have thought it was inevitable that a low ranking Scottish club who sells a player to a league 1 club in England would have a sell on clause "Just in case" be silly not too

Aye, that was my point - had the usual negative texts saying there is a "huge sell on clause" but even worst case of 20% would be £1.6m of an £8m fee and still bags us £6.4m
The club will know this of course and usually try and negotiate the fee upwards to account for any clauses

wanted to try and keep off here until the window shut but we are back to stewart being lifted to the fore again.

i now hope the club have everything in place that they were hoping for as two and a half days leaves no time to find and start new deals, i am also presuming that loan deals are already pencilled in and will be the last bit of paperwork the premier league will want to fill in.

according to some, there have been a couple of photo sessions over the past few days (although no one knows if they were for new players) and a couple of deals close, even then there have been a few close deals that fell apart...i have kept faith in the recruitment team so am pretty much hoping they are preparing to introduce some players to the crowd on saturday.

I believe his agent has seriously screwed this up

But what was the contract offered to him? Just playing devil's advocate btw, maybe it wasn't good enough.
