Coventry didn’t pay £8m for Simms, will only reach that with promotion and if he notched 20 goals etc, think it was £3.5m initially which still looks a bit steep based on his performance today. As others have mentioned the other striker who came on looked a handful.

Really interesting week ahead, can’t help but wonder if the likes of Bathh and Gooch deciding to stay (which I’m in favour of) will hamper other incomings. The squad is bloated and there’ll be some big names left out on match days if we don’t shift a few.

Problem with the Simms fee for me is, agree they probably havent paid 8m up front, promotion ideal then your up & have money....but if your unsure the player will ever be a PL player then you have paid 8m for a player & probably have to try sell for say 4m....im not sure Simms will ever be a PL player...& Have a feeling the club may think along those lines also....if there unsure...we will no longer waste money rightly so

He is a decent striker, yes. But if they’re looking for someone to replace Gyokeres in their system - he is one of the strangest choices.

He’s a good finisher in the box, but won’t press the defence or run the channels?

He looked good up top with Stewart for a few games but looked awful on his own. Decent finisher yes but touch, link up and workrate severely lacking.

Not to mention the **** was out for 2 and a half months with a strained ****ing toe.

Radio Newcastle. I'm going to see how easy it is to make a sentence up out of context by taking a few words from each paragraph to see how easy Hunter dose it.

"The game panned out different than I thought. They picked us off, we got into possessions but the final ball wasn't there.

he said he isn't sure we'll sign one by Friday, mate.
That's my point. Of course he isn't. No one can be.

But they come with a bedding in period, although I have a feeling Rusyn would hit the ground running as he's a bit more experienced.

I think he'd be great for us

I think you're right about that, from the little I've seen of him he looks pretty robust and confident. Good age as well as you say, not a teenager but a proven player.

I agree mate I’m glad we steered clear at that price, more concerned about Hemir and how shot of confidence the lad looks already.

The mass hysteria over the road is absolutely unbelievable.

James Hunter has a lot to do with it.
As I've said over the road and will say here, there is still a week to go and I (we) have to believe the recruitment team won't leave us short.

If come Friday night we are then questions will rightly be asked.

But a lot can and will happen between now and Friday

I will be too, had a long time to prepare for this window and to come up short is unthinkable.

Daily Express saying Southampton want Stewart still

I think we might need to sell him to be able to afford a striker that wants to be here

An interesting one. I will still maintain my point. A club will be willing to roll the dice and get a very good player for a cut price deal. I think Tone was trying to be clever a few weeks ago and put people off by saying end of September / October.

People will know he isn't that far away and there is an international break...

Always going to happen. If the striker doesn't come by Monday, no doubt I'll be in the firing line again. Be surprised if it doesn't get done by then though.
As your either facing a firing squad with bullets or a firing squad with flowers (depending on if it happens)

Can you name the striker?

Can I caveat that by saying the window closes Friday and if its not Monday, then there's still 4 days after that

It’s interesting that the party line has changed from him being a long way off to being not far off.

Might just be Tony being honest. Or it might be that we know we need some funds for a striker.

Either way his injury has ****ed us in so many ways. We should be selling him for 8 figures.

If we’d not been without a 9 / depth up front for a ridiculous amount of time and missing glaring opportunities for 3 points like today Hunter and others would have no ammo. It’s the clubs fault. That said I fully expect us to sign Rusyn who can hopefully play as a 9. He looks a good signing to me but not convinced 9 is his position, but maybe a better stand in in that role than Dack.
