It’s interesting that the party line has changed from him being a long way off to being not far off.

Might just be Tony being honest. Or it might be that we know we need some funds for a striker.

Either way his injury has ****ed us in so many ways. We should be selling him for 8 figures.
I can’t wait for Friday night, the end of this circus

As your either facing a firing squad with bullets or a firing squad with flowers (depending on if it happens)

Can you name the striker?

Can I caveat that by saying the window closes Friday and if its not Monday, then there's still 4 days after that

There is but this one isn't hanging about. It's been going on too long.

Personally I think we could put an end to the circus, get Rossco signed up, and then we don’t need to sign a striker. Will save us quite a bit of money and he will retain a sale value for next summer.

It seems the obvious thing to do. Which makes me think there’s been a falling out over it otherwise it’d be happening.

We absolutely need to be selling one of our top assets at some point. I think that’s becoming clear with the way the clubs who have done that are able to spend. The idea would be that you have the players ready to step in. The problem is that our top assets on the wing don’t have ready made replacements to step in - as we saw with Ba today.

The only assets we could “afford” to sell right now are probably Ballard, Hume and Cirkin. And that’s because we have at least competent backups in those positions. I don’t think at this stage of the window we could afford to sell a Clarke or Roberts unless we had their replacement coming in.

Hypothetically, would we accept £20 million double deal from Southampton for Clarke and Stewart? (No info).

Then with the money get two CF'S say Cannon and Rusky and a french winger and bank the rest?

Only if we want Southampton to be promoted.

I would accept £30 million for Clarke and Stewart. Southampton have got plenty of cash, and there’s only a week left. Getting them both both would be a big coup for them. It becomes easier to demand a large fee for Stewart the closer he is to returning. He might feasibly be able to pass a medical now.

If we manage to keep him, I think Stewart could be the key to bring the best out of Hemir. The same way he brought the best out of Simms. Stewart is so good at pressing, holding the ball up and running the channels. He needs to be marked constantly. Must be a dream strike partner to have.

Even if Stewart was to sign up I think we would still need to sign another striker. It will take him some time to get up to speed, may not be the player he was and, worst case scenario, injury flares up or new injury and we are back to square one with the window shut - then all he'll breaks out again.
