I think the release of potential manager targeted before the play off game was amateurish if it wasn’t meant to happen and bang out of order of it was. Of course as a fan i’m open to positive changes and Mowbray is getting on but people have to be respected and that wasn’t it. Whoever is responsible for the timing of that needs a bollocking.
If i remember right it was released by a foreign channel and had come from the proposed managers team (No idea if the club were involved in the release but the way we seem to keep gossip locked up makes me doubt that they released the story) which was conveniently timed to cause disruption and get some headlines .

I don’t believe he is unhappy in fact I think it’s BS. The only reason he would be unhappy is if they are expecting him to do well with half a team, which I don’t think they are so I’ll call that out as BS as well.
I think it is more likely that he would like to negotiate a new longer term contract but the club are assessing the situation as I think he only has this year left

That's fine, don't have a problem...but won't that depend on how results are going?

Possibly, but I'm thinking of Southampton when they got promoted and sacked Adkins, got Pochettino in. There was a lot of talk about how unfair it was and it turned out to be a genius move.

The manager is only 4-5 defeats away from fan pressure anyway, so the club should hire the best fit, especially if Mowbray doesn't quite agree with the "model".

Not sure what you mean by that. It’s not too old but it’s not very young. The club have a right to choose someone younger and with fresh ideas, they just need to do it right. Would I change it ? Probably not, I like his style of football and he has experience the others don’t. I think that whatever the skills of Speakman in organising things and that is undoubtedly good, it feels increasingly obvious that the culture and people skills are poor. My gut feeling thinks we have an issue.
If he does half as well as Klopp and Jose I’d be happy or do you not agree.

He came in during the January window when Southampton were 15th and finished 14th that season - was only there 1 full season finishing 8th before leaving for spurs then Koeman came in and finished 7th and then 6th… I do think he’s a quality manager tho :emoticon-0102-bigsm

But not as quality as some obviously think.

With respect back, I'm purely point out the irony at Bob not liking what he's seeing because Speakman is arrogant and there's no clear direction behind the scenes. Whereas the previous lot scored a lot worse on both points.

That said it seems clear its not all rosey.

Oh, I'll take this lot 100000 times over the last mob. Absolutely chancers and glad they are gone.

I think there would already be a bit of fan pressure after the first few games if Mowbray hadn’t done such an excellent job of deflecting any responsibility or blame away from himself.

Am sure Mowbray made noises about how he'd been a games, but it was no threat to Alex Neil etc. The club also said they plan to always have a manager lined up should the current one leave. I think it's naïve to think conversations hadn't already happened, especially by the time he attended the Norwich game

I’ve got no proof but I bumped into Mowbray at the first game of the season last year. I’ve never met a football manager before and I’m not ITK, but I said hi and we chatted very briefly. He talked about what a great job Alex Neil has done and how impressed he was by him. Mowbray was defo not sat with KLD etc. Mowbray said publicly something along the lines of he was just there as a fan. I’m not saying it’s 100% the truth, but I don’t think people should assume that he was there conspiring behind Alex Neil’s back.

Just by reading your first paragraph tells me how thick some Sunderland supporters are

aye - to be clear I'm not one of them!! I can just see it coming. a poor end to transfer window and a couple more defeats and there will be hell on (online at least, I dont get to see local sentiment)

Aye I remembered it wrongly, Adkins got them back to back promotion and had them in a very reasonable position. They sacked him for an unproven Pochettino who took them up a level or two as you say.

I think it's daft to sack managers or head coaches based off just results anyway. Unless there is a major issue it should all be based on whether the club has faith in what he's doing.

If the keeper saves Bellingham's header and Rotherham sneak a 1-0 we are probably all starting to turn. But in reality Mowbray has done the same job as he has now, it just went our way.

It's often fine margins. I remember Malcom Crosby getting sacked after the pools panel had us down for an away defeat. Poor bugger

Only one ,maybe two people in the know at the club.. Those that hire and fire.....

Mowbray is a blunt talker who wants success, particularly at his age. He sat it out at Blackburn too long, in his view I reckon, and doesn't just want to be Uncle Tony to a bunch of kids.

I've no doubt he has 'full and frank discussions' but is sage enough to reel it in before he pushed people too far ...

... looks like a bit of arm wreslting to me <laugh>
