Is it true we’re letting him go for free too? Baffling if so paying up your player of the year just seems daft to me
It can’t be free? Blackburn couldn’t sign him three weeks ago because they couldn’t get the fee together until they sold someone, hardly sounds a free signing?

Have to move players on who are no longer good enough as well though. And if he goes to QPR that to me says the club feel he’s not good enough for top end championship anymore.

They are currently our best options off the bench

And Batth should definitely be starting

Maybe just maybe the club feeling he's not good enough is wrong? Speakman can be wrong

Being told you are getting sacked in a few month, and they wonder why his form has suffered<doh>
Sorry to say but if that was me I’d be another Jack Rodwell.

He can be, but he’s paid to make these decisions and I trust him

A bit uncomfortable with moving Batth on. However, I have wanted the club to get better at moving players on at the right time for years now and if we feel like his legs have gone or he doesn’t fit the style of play then I am fine with it
Agreed, I think the best time to move players on can look like a surprise until the bigger picture is considered.

The wage bill is probably tight as well so selling a high earner could help towards the search for another centre forward/striker. Plus there are new contracts for players like Roberts and Clarke to do.

That’s not right or true. He wants to go. His family isn’t up here and the fact he can’t drive makes it very difficult for him.
Not to be an arse but him not being able to drive was surely a decision he made himself?

I was speaking to a guy at work who is in the same friends group at batth (he did say he isnt really close to him but they chat occasionally as they grew up together and have the same mates). Said hes heard he is really homesick n is missing his family, so wont sign a new deal with us. He did say his info was 2nd hand but had come from one of batths best mates

He did also say that batth loves the club but is just unsettled with being away from his family a lot

The guy isnt the type to make stuff up so hes def passed it on in good faith

Would make sense as surely we wouldnt want to lose him just yet without knowing if the 2 new lads are ready for 1st team football

He wants to go because he was told he wouldnt be getting a contract here. Other stuff is fair, but stems from contract and security.
