Yeah. Pritch played really deep but I get why, given the state of the game
TBF Ba was on the opposite side of the pitch to me, so maybe not the best view, but seemed all fart and nee ****e (I believe that is an official scouting term)
I also want to see more of him
Yeah i said on the other thread that i let pritchard off with dropping deep due to being down to 10 men

He did well in keeping the ball moving n moving the defence, help create space for us - im still waiting for that 1 performance from Ba where we all just go 'wow what a player' hes got it in his locker for sure

Games like today maybe signing Dack comes up trumps (if he stays fit) we needed midfield runners and eventually scored when we did have Neil bursting through. Dack has made a career of driving forward and getting in the 6 yard box.

Hopefully Dack has gone under the radar and maybe the type of player we need to come on and make a difference to break teams down

Hemir didn’t do enough. He’s got the frame and build, clearly has ability. Needs to use it though. He’s not ready to lead the line just yet, need help up top this week.
It’s only one game and hopefully we get some more strikers in the next week, I know there are complications like Stewart’s situation, but being brutally honest it’s a joke that we haven’t sorted this before now. It was a number one priority. Even if we sign two overseas lads this week they’ll need time to bed in and it’s too late. Every loss matters when aiming for the top two. Too late. Lots of good but not good enough with strikers is the ongoing situation as it stands.

Its down to money. Giving Stewart what he deserves and paying a few mil for a decent striker would be the difference in us going up or just continuing riding the Championship wave.
Personally i feel let down, and its a lack of ambition from our owners.

We came 2 games away from earning over 100m in revenue with nearly half our team injured in the playoffs.
Its a gamble thats more than worth taking, if we dont well end up being a mid table team with Championship mediocrity
But spending money doesnt guarantee you that, luton went up last season with hardly spending any money - they signed players that fit a system, like we are trying to do

There are rules to adhere to that you cant just spend money.

I watch so many games of football from around the game on a weekly basis n its not as simple as saying lets just spend money as that guarantees success- it doesnt

The only time it does is the crazy money of sone of the top pl clubs

Brighton got into Europe without spending a fortune, brentford has become n establishes pl without spending stupid money so its doable.

What we are aiming for is possible but your making it down that its impossible

Mate not sure if it is the drink but thats ridiculous saying the owners lack ambition. Theyve put so much money, time n effort into our club, theyve made us all fall back in love with the club - we lose 1 game n its all 'they lack ambition'.

They have spent money!! We shouldnt just give players what they think they deserved, thats why players like rodwell ended up on 70k a week.

Sunderland fans know more than most just spending money doesnt mean youll be successful

If you cant be positive n happy about where our club is going now youll never be

Yes i do appreciate and respect teams like Brighton but teams like Villa and Newcastle spent to make their time in the Championship short lived and it paid off. The size of our club we shouldnt be thinking the same as the teams you mentioned with half our fan base, we dont even need to spend a fortune just a fair few mil on a good experienced striker and then we have as much chance for promotion as anyone

If villa hadn't got promoted when they did, they would have ended up like Derby in massive debt, point deductions and transfer embargo's. They went up via the playoffs.

The 2 examples you gave both had parachute payments so were getting about 40 million a yr extra revenue, we arent!!

Weve been in L1 for 4 season n this is our 7th season out the PL so we dont have the same revenue as clubs getting parachute payments

What if we did spend loads to get promoted but fall short then had to sell our better players for a low price then had to asset strip the club to cover the costs

So many teams have struggled financially over recent times, including ourselves - i couldnt care less about the PL in the grand scheme of things. I dont want to risk the future of our great club just to get promoted, we have to do it sustainable as its the right thing to do for everyone associated with this club

Fans and players player of the year last season? Our club confuses me
Had this discussion pre-game. Batth will be 33 in a few weeks time. It's just possible the club are looking at his data, looking at his stats from last season and how they wish to progress as a team and thinking he's not in the model. We are a team that plays out from the back and has fast. mobile defenders who can play a number of positions in the same game. Batth is an old fashioned CB, his passing is average and he isn't the quickest. Maybe, it's just a gamble the club are taking to move him on and place their trust in Seelt & Triantis.

For what it's worth, I'd 100% keep Batth until Jan and let the aforementioned CBs time to get fit/bed in. Having said that, the club is publicly priding itself on looking after players and presenting them with options when their contracts are coming to an end. Same with Flanagan and Wright, if the player can find a better deal elsewhere, instead of running their contract down, then the club won't stand in their way.

I'm undecided on this stance
