Please define peanuts, do you know his salary?

He’s on less than £3k a week. We offered him around £10k a week. There’s more than a fair few championship strikers who are a lot worse than him on over £20k a week.

Not sure anyone knows the exact ins and outs or if they do I’ve not heard them but if Stoke offered £20k and we offered £10k then he’s within his rights to try and get closer to the £20k a week to stay in my opinion. We’d all do the same to better our wage if a competitor offered us twice our salary.

He is a really good lad isnt he.

What I like about our recruitment policy, along with the fact we buy damn good players, is we pay attention to character. If you look at the players we buy they have all been brought up well, are humble and hungry, and have great determination and work ethic. Even the older lads like Baath and Pritchard have been really excellent characters, who have arguably played higher levels, but led by example not by reputation. I listen to all our players talk and they have a lot of football intelligence, they are respectful of the fans and the city, and they first and foremost seem pleased to be here.

We all know the data approach we have. It is brilliant. Some pundit doing a championship preview on the radio yesterday said nobody is matching our recruitment in this division currently. What we clearly do is research the person as well as the stats. I only see good people joining our club, and when you are part of a team you only want good people with the right character alongside you. We have that spot on it seems to me.

Agree. The lack of bad eggs in the squad is great. Old or young, they all seem like a good bunch of lads. That struck me when I watched Cirkins interview when he first signed. Moving to the other end of the country at 19 just after losing his dad and he spoke very well. Absolutely fair play to the lad.

Hume anarl, think he was 19 when he came over. Refreshing to have players who count their blessings to be here and want to play for the club.

100%, I think attitude and personality is the secret sauce with this team. I was thinking about this recently, it really does make the difference. Also makes recruitment that much more difficult. I bet there are plenty of players that are within the threshold data wise but the club take the view they'd be a destabilizing influence, they're good players but a bit of bell end, in other words.

In hindsight I was probably over critical about the lack of strikers last Jan on that basis, rather make do and carry on than sign someone who will cause chaos in the dressing room. That said, they've had long enough to think about that now and I genuinely think we'll have what we need come the close of the window.

I am confident they will get a striker in mate, and it will be one that fits our squad in all ways. Dack is here because his character is so damn good, particularly with young lads. He is a bloody good footballer, but likely on the edge of our data parameters. We will flex the model though for the right player, it would be crazy if we were slaves to data only. Mowbray's involvement in our recruitment discussions is a great balance for us.

I would really like to know where all these figures come from, the club certainly don't publish players wages, is it all speculation and Chinese whispers? My employees would consider it a breach of privacy if I told everybody what they earned.

Your employees aren’t footballers who’s contracts are public knowledge all over social media and tabloids when they sign them though.. you could get a good idea of how much someone in a certain position at a specific company earns through things like glassdoor, linkedin and job adverts.

Also more than likely agents leaking info to try and get better contracts.

I think we've all learned, even just in this one thread alone, that information gained from "all over social media and tabloids" and "agents leaking info" is more often a load of bullshit than actual facts. I would love to see actual evidence, but that's not going to happen, so I'll leave it there.
I'm not having a dig at you personally, I just don't like to see speculation presented as fact.
