Not sure we're in a better position than start of season last year, mind. We're down Simms, Diallo, and effectively Stewart. Recruited a lot of unproven youngsters plus Dack... The league as a whole has gotten a lot stronger, we'll do well to get playoffs again as things stand, imo.
Amad is the only one we are really missing.

The others barely played. The unproven youngsters (Hume, Ekwah, Clarke, Neil, Patterson etc) all did well last season.

Up front is where my main concern is. got this horrible vision of Hemir getting injured and us playing Dack and Pritchard up front

Or he could come back, score a **** load of goals and we then offer him a much better contract. I honestly think he's the type of lad that thrives on goals. He would want to put 100% in and prove his worth.
I'd keep him for the season.
If he’s going to score goals this season then I’d rather it was for us. Let’s see where we are in May and who is offering what in terms of PL style wage rises.

Happy to let the transfer window run its course.
But this is my concern. Real deja vu from January where the window ended and we were so light up front.
Sometimes deals fall through but Hopefully they have learned their lesson

Giving him to Boro our rival for peanuts then paying a wage higher than his pittance to someone else who may not be as effective would be ludicrous.

To be fair they have, we've signed two forwards already.
We have replaced Gelhardt/Simms. The only improvement is a developing injured player who I’d say would be Dack’s competitor. Anyone system with one up top needs 3 who can play as a lone striker. Simply because when one gets injured for 6 weeks or so which is normal with a tear you then have no sub for that period.

So we have signed two forwards aye. Great.

The Stewart situation means our hands are slightly tied now being realistic about it.

Not saying we won't add to it but given we have signed two I think lessons have been learned and if it wasn't for the newest lad picking up an injury there'd be a lot less panic for the first game.

Some journo from the Athletic picked Hemir as his championship player to watch this season. Said he was like Weighorst but scores goals. Based on the bits I have seen he will do well enough for us. One more striker to challenge him would be good enough for me. Rarely see us playing two out and out strikers personally. Dack or Pritch off the big man would be as close as we would get I think.
