had a bloke recently giving it the 'what's the point of having a rich owner who does not want to spend?'...i did try to point out why would anyone just throw millions and millions into the job when there is a better way to do things (short tried the first way and lost loads) and no one can say that KLD has not improved the club 10 fold, hopefully we will see the behind the scenes work improve now.

would love to see those complaining win the euro lotto and blow every penny trying to throw it all on making some lower league club into a premier outfit, then they might just realise...but then again, they would be sat begging with a sign saying 'at least i give it a go'.
Just been looking at Brentford transfers, fantastic to see how careful management and sales has got them where they are. Selling their stars regularly and reinvesting. Wonder if their fans bitched on like some of ours when they sold konsa and maupay for big amounts like some of ours are going on about Clarke and Stewart?

He was in the team to score goals and that’s what he did. I think you’re doing him a disservice regarding his ability to finish.

Not suggesting we sign him but he clearly has the ability in front of goal when he’s in the right team.
Perhaps I am being harsh. I think the right team and right level he would do a job, but I think that’s probably League 1.

Watkins anarl, scored about 30 goals then replaced him with a league one striker.

Brighton have profited every season they’ve been in the Prem I think.

Genuinely just annoys me when people start waffling about us not needing to sell players so I don’t get involved anymore :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I know what you’re saying but with all due respect they are Brentford

Historically a third tier club (at best). We are Sunderland

We can take lots of elements of their “model” but quite rightly we should expect to ditch certain parts - they can not and do not expect to do anything beyond have their moment in the sun, and enjoy it while they’re there. We should be looking to become a fixture in the top half of the PL, like other clubs of our ilk. That will involve an element of retaining top players (and paying them appropriately to do so) rather than always being the feeder fish in the pond.

Anyone know who is thought of more highly him or Hemir? Or who is considered the better player?
Apparently he is more of a wide player so could be that dack and mayenda combined cover the positions Amad would fill? Or I could be talking utter nonsense

You say ‘we are sunderland’ but what does that even mean? We’ve won **** all for 50 years. The last time we finished higher than Brentford did last season was 23 years ago. I’d take their ‘moment in the sun’ over everything I’ve experienced in my lifetime following Sunderland

Speakman and Co seem very good at bringing in wingers.... and quite a few other positions...

However a key position does seem to present difficulties.

know what you are saying marra but right now they are in a far better position than we are and good luck to them, they deserve to be there.

I’d swap places with them in a heartbeat mind bud, it’s a model for those clubs without Saudi or other Middle Eastern money, or an established top six premier club. Whether we are a well supported club with a rich history or not these days it’s all about money and if we’re not got an owner with massively deep pockets then we need a sustainable model in order to advance. Brentford are doing just that.
