Love how a certain brand of people use the word "woke" as if it's an insult. It's almost as if those people don't understand what woke means :emoticon-0140-rofl:

If the cap fits?

What does it mean if you are a woke snowflake?

"Snowflake" is a slang term for a person, implying that they have an inflated sense of uniqueness, an unwarranted sense of entitlement, or are overly emotional, easily offended, and unable to deal with opposing opinions.

Aye, but you used the word woke as though it was part of the insult. There's snowflakes on both sides.

Which you then overlay with the term woke, thinking that these so-called snowflakes are snowflakes because they have an awareness of and are actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)

So, because they are woke, they are snowflakes because, in your eyes, people who try to combat things like racism, gender inequality and discrimination are only doing so due to an inflated sense of uniqueness

My hero is J K Rowling etc

If Mbappe goes it'll change the equation I think. Top tier, in his prime.

He'll still be playing in a rubbish league though, in front of very small crowds with no intensity in the game.

He's a very good player, but over hyped now in my view and taking it easy at PSG has been a big factor in that. He'll be taking it easy there even more and it won't help him at all.

I doubt he's bothered though. Gives signs of being an arrogant and indulged lad.

What exactly DOES it mean? Apart from being a conjugation of the word wake?

People who have an awareness of and are actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)

So basically (IMHO) people who aren't necessarily affected by racial/social injustice, but take a stand against it.

For example, I am a middle class, educated, able bodied heterosexual male - I am completely undiscriminated against, but I renounced my Catholic faith a few years ago when the Pope decreed that same sex marriage is a sin.

Well I suppose it might depend on what the important issue is.

Many who cloak themselves in the "Woke" garments are extremely intolerant of people with other views. For instance, recent exhortations by men in frocks to punch women in the face if they maintain that a woman is an adult human female.

Normal reasonable behaviour did not formally need a name like woke, but the times it seems, appear to have a-changed

I consider it to be the lunatic fringe of progressive. Topcat's definition is good, but I think it's more suited to progressive. Remove all sense of logic, reason and reality from progressive, give it a Twitter account, and you get 'woke'.

I do love a tangent. Maybe this deserves its own Culture War thread.

Not sure the kids ‘over hyped’ to be honest.

He is utterly stunning as a footballer and has done it on every stage, including a World Cup final hat trick. He’s 24.

He is undoubtably a prick and his attitude is lifting, but his footballing prowess is unquestionable.

Hasn't been too shabby in world cups has he. Did he not score at least 3 or 4 in last 2 finals?
