usually, the nay-sayers are out early complaining the club have not signed anyone yet, the club outfoxed them by buying early.

slowly though there are murmers of discontentment starting to appear, just a few little ones.

the problem that i notice is everyone jumping on any click bait headline and trying to be the first to post it, just so they can shout they were the first to mention it in here, if the transfer actually happens...and yet the way the club does it's business now, few know anything until it is signed, sealed and delivered, i may be (am) a semi senile old bassa but even i worked out that these click bait headlines rarely actually have any real news in the full story.

as ever, i am happy to sit and watch any melt downs and 'ban the fecker' cries and leave it the club. *apologies for taking up another space ;)

Looks to me like we're playing one club/agent/player off against another ...

... we obviously won't get them all which gives the whingers the opportunity to say we failed.

I'm loving it all, it always used to be Sunderland that were being taken for a ride.

Wages a big problem with the Cannon deal.

Frigan..transfer fee (issues - i dont know if we will go to £5.5m).

2 Strikers and a experinced midfieder wanted. Always said we need to release a couple before we recruit.

Stewart still heavily linked to Stoke..great wages on offer.
The wages thing makes it sound like we’re after Cannon permanently, unless you mean the wage split between ourselves and Everton on a loan deal?

We’ve come a long way since the likes of Gibson & Graham (I know they were in different eras).

Not seen any names for the midfielder apart from the lad from Holland

That’s been the case with a fair few of our transfers over the past couple of years. Definitely the right way but I like the speculation and rumours.

I’d like us to go for Han Noah Massengo who is out of contract although there would be a fee as he’s young. He’s not the obvious experienced choice but he’s play over 100 games. Tenacious but very good technically and think he would be a great fit and more defensive option in our midfield. No link to him at all it’s just me throwing a name I rate out there.

Hopefully its a permanent deal, cannon suits our style of play more than simms did imo. Simms is quicker n is a better finisher but cannons work rate is a lot better, his link up play is pretty good as well which we need from our front man with the way we play. Cannon's movement is better than simms so will score as many goals as him but will def set up more than simms.
To be honest mate it is the pace that troubles me a bit. Can he get in behind and run the channel? If he drops in and links up is he then quick enough to then get up with Clarke and Roberts. Our play can be so quick in the final 3rd I am not as sold on him. What I saw of Semedo in the last game on the other hand was exciting. Pace and powerful running. Looks a bit like Stewart although very early. If he can attack the spaces in the box then Roberts and Clarke will find him, and if he can run the channels that out ball Mowbray wanted last year is on. Time will tell on Canon, and if the recruitment team want him who am I to disagree.

Hes not rapid but hes not slow, he is def more of a link player but he has good movement in the final 3rd. I think we need different options up front, id like a 3rd striker who is more of your pacey fox in the box type striker. Cannon is your link kind of striker n hemir is your powerhouse forward. Be great to have different options

I'm very much in the "Yawn" camp when it comes to Stewart now. Just want something sorted and move on. Cheers for the update.

I’m happier with no news than bad news personally, especially considering we’ve kept hold of our key players thus far.

If the season started tomorrow I’d be happy. Not saying I’d be happy if the window was closing, but we have enough for the start of the season. Which is pretty rare for us :D

I agree but keep getting drawn back into it as so much conjecture that’s difficult to reconcile. Ross will never be back at the same level again post injury yet Leicester, Stoke, Middlesbrough all circling. Had a quick google and found this… https://bjsm.bmj.com/content/54/8/480.abstract
So doctor google has Ross with a decent chance of a good recovery however there are those with knowledge who will be able to put this into a proper context.

Good post mate.

If we sign 2 players, keeper and striker, I'd be content. Only areas were short

I reckon we could do with another central attacking mid to replace Amad as well.

Jury is still out on Ba/Jobe/Rigg stepping into Amad's role, and Pritchard's always blowing out his arse after 60 minutes, so don't fancy him as the replacement either.

If we keep Stewart, I think we need 3...ST, GK, CAM.
If Stewart goes, I think we need 4...ST, ST, GK, CAM.
