Mind you if you combine what Mowbray has said this evening, with the “story” from Fishpaste that Batth has been told his deal won’t be renewed next summer - suggests that it may well be the case that he’s been told we won’t keep him beyond next season and he’s pissed off about it and wants to go somewhere he’s valued

but either way he’s a good pro. So he won’t force anything and will still work his arse off for us. I’m sure

He's 33 in September. I don't think it's surprising at all that he's not getting another contract.

ade akinbad-buy i think, only goal he got that season iirc
Scored a hat trick against us for Southend Collymore as well when he was a kid.

He was very good that day, went Forest just after.

He was god like against us that day, I remember it vividly, Pat Skully scored the winner but I remember thinking he, collymore, was cheating. Collymore was a tremendous player. Unbelievable actually, take his personal life out of.it, he was brilliant!

Blackburn are offering centre-half Danny Batth, 33 in September, a two-year deal as they plot a raid on Sunderland.

Rovers want Batth, who is in his last year with the Black Cats and is not getting an extension after that because of his age.

The Ewood Park club are hoping Batth pushes to leave and former boss Tony Mowbray decides he will not be a starter so they can land him cheaply.https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.th...on-transfer-news-blackburn-transfer-news/amp/

Yeh this is looking more and more like it happens now. Will just be about agreeing a fee I reckon

It seems some people are more obsessed with 'the model' than actual reality. This player was POTS for us last year and the most consistent defender across the season. Canny wild how some are happy to just forget it all because of 'the model'.

Decision has already been made, that's why we have been in the market and replaced with 2 others. See how it goes I guess but I am very dubious.

If it is Blackburn there could be a swap deal to be done. Mowbray and Venus are supposed to be big fans of Buckley who came through under them.

100%. Best defender we have. By a mile. But the club is different these days. It's not TM decision.
The blokes 33 in September and is in his remaining 12 months. SAFC would happily keep Batth until summer 2024. He'll then be approaching 34. Have to be ruthless in football sometimes and if a ageing 34 year old is going to halt the pathway of one of the other lads then he should be moved on. Equally, he has himself to think about and needs a longer contract elsewhere. I'll be sad to see him go mind but that's football.

the likes of him and Evans are critical for these young players. Let alone the fact he’s our best centre back and the reason we are in this division

I understand decisions but it doesn't seem like he is on the decline does it. Absolute monster for us and literally pots. Seems to be getting moved on to satisfy the model and model only.

no me neither. But he might be surprised to be told categorically he won’t get one, rather than the usual stance which is “lets speak in the new year when it’s closer to expiry”
I think we’re basically treating him with some respect in being honest that if all goes to plan we won’t need him next season. Gives him an informed position to make decisions if he gets offered two or three year deals by other clubs. He might be disappointed but I doubt he is pisses off.

Considering in our last match we had no centre backs it seems absolutely outrageous that we can be rid of our best one :D

I know I read way too much into squad numbers but it was telling that all our signings were given one except Seelt. I’m not sure you’d do that unless you were going to give him somebody else’s once they’ve left. And I don’t think you’d do that unless it was a 1-11 number. So I’m clutching at straws so he may well be taking the 6 shirt

Dont think us fans want him to go but ill trust speakman to do what he feels is best as hes worked wonders since coming in

They might be looking at it and thinking has he reached his peak and its only downhill from here - who knows! I really like baath, think i said before he might just be our best signing in the last 10 yrs or so

Still excited to see what we do this summer
