My thoughts on Simms.
I’m not bothered that he hasn’t joined us.

His stats with us look good but I think that the way we play is great for strikers who get lots of chances with our attacking play.
Being supplied by Roberts, Clarke, Amad, Cirkin, Hume and then getting passes from Neil, Onion and Pritchard must be a strikers dream.

I bet Charlie Wyke never beats his last season with us.

I reckon most strikers would thrive on the way we play.
I also think that Amad will struggle to get anywhere near last seasons performance when playing with other teams.

One worry I do have which has been mentioned a few times is that we are currently weaker than last season.
We’ve lost two first teamers in Amad and Gelhart and we have no immediate replacements.
The four bairns we’ve signed are probably a few months (at least) away from being in the first 11 as are Jewi and Lihadji.
I’m assuming we don’t lose any of those mentioned on here (Ross, Clarke, Ballard, Cirkin, Bath for examples)
Goalies are no problem. Patterson will probably be fine all season but if he gets injured I bet we could get some ‘emergency’ goalie in because other teams seem to do it.

The recruitment team are doing great so I’m sure they will at least get a couple of first 11 players in but as we saw last season sometimes things don’t work out as we want them to.
For me, 2 more first choice strikers are essential.
Ross may or may not feature and he must be considered a big injury risk.
Semedi(?) is probably not quite ready yet.

Those who say good strikers will not come to sit on the bench are wrong because if we have four they will all be rotated, rested and played and that’s not accounting for any injuries which will happen.

Our four summer signings should be ready to hit the ground running. All been playing football at a respectable level against blokes, not u21s. I wouldn’t be worried about any of them having to come straight into the team tbh, maybe Semedo because his role is arguably the most “important” one as a lone striker.

Lihadji should be ready after pre-season too he’s been here 6 months now.

Sheff Utd might work for him. But I think he'll find a bit difference playing his home games at Turf Moor, especially if they struggle.

Deserves a proper go in the Premier League though, and I'm surprised UTD aren't having a good look at him, at least until Christmas.

When was Alese preferred over Cirks?

If Cirks is fit he’s one of first on team sheet and always will be.

Clarke isn’t about pinging ball after ball into the box he likes it on the ground and likes to cut inside, I’m not sure we lost any impact at all from Jacky when without a striker, I’d suggest he thrived on the interplay this lead to.

Yep. Clarke is adaptable and improving. If he had a disadvantage when playing with no centre forward it was that Ahmad preferred to go to the left and link with Roberts.

Its a funny one, yes get the 3.5m being ok, its the 5m on promotion, yes will have gone up &;have the extra money.....BUT will have paid 8m for a striker im not sure will be capable of PL level
Which is probably one of the reasons we weren't in for him, if we signed him yes he would have cost 3.5million, he may have done ok, we get promoted it has now cost us 8 million , which some may think is good business however if he has not stepped up to PL level then it will be time to move him on and if that's the case then teams looking to buy him will probably not be prepared to pay more than 8 million for him.
I do think he would help us get promoted bit I don't think we would get promoted because of him if that makes sense.
If Stewart was fully fit last season I believe we would have challenged for the title, if we'd had Simms all season I just think we would have finished in a higher play off position. I think the club probably have a really good idea if Stewart is going to sign . They possibly have someone lined up that they believe will contribute as much as simms but with more promise for future value.
IMHO if the club wanted him and believe he would develop in to a premier league striker he would be here , I don't think it's a case of us being priced out the deal or unprepared to pay the asking price, I think it was a case that we think there are better options

There was that other Leicester lad as well, name escapes. No goal in 23 or summat.

Obv he scored as we lost 1-0. Pffft

Adebayo or summat.
Didn't Collymore do it as well. Not scored for ages and hit a hattrick against us. One went in off the bottom of his studs, I think we lost 5-2 and we played well.
