I do think RS is the better player but goals are king. ES did great here. Price isn't far off market value.

Such a small sample size (7 goals in 17) for Simms to know if he really can cut it at top-end Championship. I'd have definitely had him here, but not at that price. Coventry are having their eyes taken out and paying it because they will soon have £20m in their back pocket

When Man Utd loan players out, they expect them to play, often inserting a clause in the loan contract. If we sign Bishop, does that mean Patterson is away?

Yeah, fair point but my opinion was about whether Simms is a Championship level player and worth £8m rather than a comparison with Stewart

FWIW I think Stewart has more to his game, but Simms can certainly develop. I don't think Coventry would be spending £8m on him without the Gyökeres money

I do too. Will depend on the structure of the deal for me. What's up front and what's add ons etc

Worth pointing out when Stewart was the same age as Simms he was playing in the 3rd tier of Scottish football where he managed 7 goals in 400 more minutes of football.

I do think £8m is too much for Simms but he’s not as bad as some are making out. If he gets chances he’ll score goals.

Simms still useful, still a decent player. There’s not many better than a fit Stewart outside the PL, it’s no slur on Ellis.

I’d have had him back in a flash for £3million or so with add one.
