I get your point but, really, who you buying with £30 million to replace those to if same or higher quality?

You can’t. We are hoping that the scouting team finds a gem who is first team ready. It’s not happening.

There isn’t another Clarke waiting in the wings. Jewi may well become a baller but we don’t know.

£30million doesn’t buy a lot nowadays. We may invest that in several younger player who could hit or miss, but facts are if we lose Jacky and/or Ballard we are severely weakened.

People have talked about Souttar on here. I agree Ballard is a more complete CB. That’s the fee to replace him at a level. We’d lose out. It’s short term outlook that would take us back a step.

Are we doomed ...

... asking for a friend.

You don’t think you could replace Clarke and Ballard with £30m? Are you crackers? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

The issue is attracting better players to the championship but the fees certainly wouldn’t be an issue if we had £30m to spend.

Just replacing Clarke alone - As mentioned previously Olise was £8m. Fabio Carvalho £6m. Ensisco £10m. Gnonto £3.5m.

To put it into perspective both Palhinha and Julian Alvarez were less than £20m each..

I don't see why the club would sell any of the players this season. Another season at this level and all the players go up in value again. The model should be selling players when they have hit their ceiling with us (in terms of value for the level they are playing at), the ceiling obviously moves if we get promoted etc...

No chance should it take 2 weeks to build a website in this day and age. The first friendlies are this weekend and fans can't get kits. Joke.

Two weeks!? My mate would laugh his laptop off at that.
And even if it does take two weeks. Start bloody two weeks ago!
Bloody hell man, for all the good happening with the team, there are some amateur people still picking up wages at the club off the pitch.

We could get relegated and all of those players are now worth less. Hindsight is a brilliant thing.. Most of the players we’re talking about have just had their first decent season, there’s nothing to say they’ll improve again. Everton offered £25m for Kone, we ended up getting about £2m for him.

Who’s available now to replace them? They all went PL by the way.

Not suggesting they irreplaceable, saying it would be incredibly difficult for £30million this market. Only certainty is would leave an enormous hole in the team.

Smug, far from doomed. Just need be smart. If we must sell, sell ONE

100% we could sign as good if not better with that sort of money. Our whole squad has probably been put together for 15 million so 30 million does buy you a lot these days.

If we did sell them we would be getting probably the 4th n 5th highest transfer fees in the history of our club thats huge. We would be making huge profits on both, we could use the money to strengthen the whole team and make us stronger

Having said that i hope we dont sell these lads as im big fan of both

I personally think theyll both stay

Not sure if anyone’s shops on DH Gate, but the link leaked away too has appeared on there

I'm really not going to lose any sleep over who goes, don't think club will let more than one big one leave. Looking forward to seeing what comes in over next few weeks too. Hope we continue our impressive form in recruitment.

I expect both Burnley and West Ham to test the resolve of SAFC with bids in the excess of £15m for both Clarke and Ballard over the next 5/7 days.

Would you take in the region of £6m for Steward from either Stoke or Leeds.

Talks still ongoing for Pritchard to leave the club..multiple championship clubs linked.

Appreciate the update mate.

Souttar wasn't worth £18m. Also, it's not an exact science to compare one deal with another - if you were to do that then the best comparison is Ballard now v Ballard last summer. Why is he worth £16m more than last year?
Souttar was only that much because he had a good World Cup

I said the other day that imo, there's a bit of sparing going on in the early stages. I also said that if anyone came in with let's say 12 million of Clarke, conversations would probably start.

Obviously we're not footballers so don't know how much rumours or moves effect players, I'd guess as humans, it will in some way, but let's just say it has any kind of effect, first Batth rumoured to be wanting away and probably Premier league football a potential destination for Ballard, there's our two CBs "Unsettled". However, there's probably a reason we've went out and signed players for that position so as I said the other day, club for the first time in a very long time we've been proactive vrs reactivate.

Doesn’t work like that, it’s all about getting them gone at exactly the right time. Players aren’t consistent for loads of reasons, look at Amad at rangers year before us, he was as **** as you could get, but last year he looked like a proper star in the making. I agree getting promoted is the aim, and to do that we need a good team, and last year showed how good at times we could be, but we’re not there with our current setup, we need to be able to do it at home, not just playing well on the counter like we do away. For that we need some different players with different ideas, to do that we might need to let a few good uns to go to reinvest with better in a different system imho. I don’t want to sell btw, but will understand, and as far as it’s important, will support the decision and the team.

If you could get £35m for Clarke, Ballard and Stewart, with the spurs clawback bandied about, that would leave us £30m to replace Stewart and Clarke, assuming one of the new lads is as good as we hope at centre half. I’d be ok with that mind.

Aye and now isn't the right time imo. Those players being talked about will improve I have no doubt about it.

If we keep hold of the players who are being linked with prem clubs.

I was going to say there is a difference between these lads and Kone, attitude. But to be honest Kone seemed to have a brilliant attitude that first season so you never know.
