If they keep signing players of Tonali quality they absolutely will be up there. They lucked into top 4 last season with several big teams having a terrible years and it's pushed their progress forward about 5 years.

The hardest part for these mega rich clubs is always reaching top 4 for the first time. Before that, they can have all the money in the world to spend but top players won't come without Champions League football. Now they have that (plus effectively infinite money) I don't see them dropping out again.

They needed another midfielder like, they rode their luck last season with their schedule and picking up barely any injuries to their best Xl. They played United in the league and United had their 5th and 6th choice central midfielders on the pitch. It was a steady 4/5 game month pretty much every month for them whilst other teams were playing 7/8 games.

I’ve watched Tonali since he was 18 at Brescia, and he is not a player who’d get games in a top 4 PL side.

He’s a good signing for sure and improves them, but he is way below Bruno level and not even close to your Rodri, Odegaard, Casimero, Rice (wherever he ends up) level.

Also, he doesn’t wanna be there so how will he perform? Broke down devastated at being forced out of Milan, no Serie A club could afford him.

Aye I don’t think the lad has enough about him for their development.

He’s got ability there’s no doubt, but he gets bullied and he’s 6 3.

He isn’t anywhere near Odegaard level, and if they drop Odegaard deeper to accommodate him that weakens them for me.

Unless they planning on going wild, Rice sitting and Odegaard & Havertz pushing on, be Hollywood to watch but they’d get torn apart on the break.

I personally disagree that they will fall off mind think there’s proper foundations there, their issue isn’t gonna be falling off more Chelsea and Liverpool being stronger. Impossible to comment on United right now.

If United takeover happens they will catch City in 2-3 years, doesn’t matter what City do all thing being equal players would go United over City. Just history and fact. United with this takeover would go back alongside Madrid as the biggest clubs in world.

Don’t seem to be happening though.

I have to disagree with you about Havertz being bullied mind, he goes down easily at times but all forwards tend to now - he’s a fiery f*cker who isn’t afraid to put himself about, he picks up more fouls for Chelsea than any other player. Wasn’t scared to go toe to toe with Dan Burn then stick an elbow on him :emoticon-0102-bigsm whereas Antony took the piss out of him a few times early doors then was **** scared of him for the rest of the game!

Arteta is no mug they’ll have a plan for him and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him thrive. He’s definitely not a false 9 though he’s been wasted there.

Aye agree definite ability, and he turns up in big games often, but he’s so anonymous other times. Maybe Arsenal style plays into his hands a bit.

He does get bullied though he gets boxed out of games. Suppose for all he’s tall he’s skinny as a rake, but then I’m sure Arsenal are looking at his technical ability. He has great touch for his size.

That lots issue is squad depth, they have a good starting line up but playing every 2/3 days will have a massive impact on their squad.

Signing 1 CM will def not be enough for them, they need strength all over the place - for me they are over paying for tonali who according to reports doesnt want to go, always a warning signing

Livramento will be a class signing for them if they get him, he will strengthen the depth at fullback

The prices players are going for at the minute is crazy, i love rice - one of my fave players - but hes never worth anywhere near the money west ham want

Football is going mad and thats why i love what we are doing. Ive never cared about signing superstars or just being in the PL to make up numbers, all ive ever wanted is to be proud of my club - thanks to kld n speakman n co i can say ive never been prouder

Leicester signings Conor Coady and Harry Winks.

I know they have parachute payments but definitely feels like the relegated clubs this year aren't going to be as basket-case as normal

I did say :emoticon-0138-think the clubs coming down this season are much bigger and better than the likes of Burnley and Sheff Utd..

Coady and Evans at CB in the championship is mental.

Harry Winks is gash. So slow. Nice touch can pass but so slow and so slow making decisions.

He was shocking in Serie A as well, he will get overran in the Championship.

As such, delighted to see one of our main rivals sign him.

Agree on that CB pairing though, outstanding for second tier.

Must confess I haven't watched Winks in about 3 years so you may well be right.

The problem is the likes of city, chelsea, psg, mags and now the Saudi clubs can pay silly money and it just inflates it for everyone else and the cycle continues. For example Chelsea paid 105m for henandez or whatever he's called so west ham or going to expect more for rice and so it goes on and filters down the way and sees bang average players going for 20m plus.

I agree and think it’s obscene but a footballer is worth as much as someone is willing to pay for them, basically all it comes down to.

Unfortunately some clubs these days have virtually unlimited pots of money

Yes, I can’t disagree with that. The issue is that football becomes a money contest rather than skill. If anything it drives me more to watch grassroots football again over the premier league

Be decent at walking football. He’s not gonna live with the energy and intensity in this league.

All well and good being tidy with the ball, until a 6’3, athletic unit is on you in a split second.
Agree with what folks are saying about winks, overrated for me - only seen him play 5 or 6 good games

Coady is ok but struggles in a back 4, hes so much better in a 3 so not too worried about him

The 3 teams coming down should be the strongest by far but its all about how they adapt. Leicester losing a lot of players but think the likes of iversen, dewsbury-hall, thomas and cowdhury will do really well at championship level

Southampton im just not sure about, martin is a decent manager but not sure if hes a winner that can get a team over the line - depends who they keep n sell

Leeds, work with 2 lads who are massive leeds fans both arent confident at all this yr - both saying they are a basket case of a club at the min
