Obviously, they could cost any price. But finding Stewart was a one off. You don't find many strikers for half a million quid with his upside. I don't think you find many players at all who are under 20 and can be a player of Stewart's ability and stature in just a couple of years either. We'd have to sign someone who's already half developed and in my view, that costs a reasonable level of money.
Up to the recruitment team to show that it wasn't a one off fluke. I think they will have a few lined up for the summer to compete with him tbh.

There's always another hero just around the corner in the conveyor belt of football.

Either way, regardless of how much money we bring in from transfers in the summer I'd be suprised if we spend more than £10m

Could lightening strike twice North of the border with Lawrence Shankland?
He's 28 later this year and has handled his move from lower league to Hearts and scores regularly.
Don't know a lot about his style of play but then I didn't with LND either.
Is 28 too old, not in my book.

For our model and as a rsult of that model the recruitment team I think 28 will be too old in most cases. If LND stays then I think it will be a young lad or two coming in as strikers to eventually take his place.

Simms mentioned elsewhere and I wouldn't be surprised to see us go for him, all depends on Everton and their relegation battle and if they see him as first team player of course. I think even if relegated they won't see him as first team and will be open to selling.

Simms has scored in the PL now and is only 20 and English. We will be talking £10m starting bids by default now imo. Need to find another one.

You might be right on that one. Not sure he has had enough time on the pitch and done well enough when he has to command those fees but you are right he will probably cost too much now.

It seems crazy that his fee can go up just for a bit of time at that level, until i remeber we once paid £8 million for a defender cause he came from Chelsea, never played more than a few minutes for the first team mind but must be decent if Chelsea signed him! What Chelsea who have half of world football on their books as the business model is to sign players loan them out for a fee and eventually someone will sign them for a profit cause they played for Chelsea. P.s that signing still annoys the **** out of me, if rumours are true we had balked at Van Dyke a few seasons before for about £9 million as it was a risk cause he was only doing it at Celtic! At least he was doing it somewhere!

It's hard, but there are hidden gems out there. Stewart was an unbelievable find, but the likes of Ivan Toney, Oli Watkins & Jamie Vardy were found in the lower leagues. I have to assume our scouting network is also scouring the academies of France looking for untapped talent.

Not sure he'd go for that much. £5-6m maybe - a single goal in the PL doesn't make you a PL striker. Even Altidore scored in the PL.....
Our real problem comes if Everton go down - Simms would then be their starting striker next season and we'd have no chance. You have to assume that Everton will strengthen in the summer and Simms will be reduced to an occasional appearance in the match day squad. At that point, there will be suitors from outside the PL, including us.....

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi?

20 year old winger on loan from Palace to Charlton.

The lad has had an exceptional season at Charlton scoring 11 goals and 6 assists in 36 games from the wing.

He cuts inside from the right onto his left foot.

He's definitely ready for the next step up and will play at a high level on the Championship next season. Maybe he's a good loan option to replace Amad. Ideally he's the type that we can convince to join us permanently if he's not fancied enough at Palace.

I’m no scout but I watched him the one time charlton were on sky I think against Bolton and he looks a level about league one already like, stats back that up too

Too many wingers not enough strikers

I wouldn't be going for Simms in all honesty. He was decent enough to step in this season when needed but if we want to progress and move on, I think we can get better in.

His all round game was lacking for me, first touch etc. and he didn't have the energy or tenacity that Stewart has. I think we should be looking at better for next season but it wouldn't be too difficult to find someone on the same level as Simms if that's what we wanted.

I don't think we have too many wingers. It's possible you could argue we have enough wingers but even then it's only if you're certain that Bennette and Lihadji are wingers and are good enough. Lihadji could still possibly be best as a forward in my opinion with the right coaching.

I also think we shouldn't turn down obvious talent if it's available to us at the right price, no matter the position.

We could do with someone on the left to challenge Clarke.
