I think this is a brilliant move. Every youngster we sign will not make it but this how we will grow and sustain and hopefully make millions on the ones that are good enough.

Probably worth remembering Stewart wasnt as good when he signed as he is now. He has been coached very well at Sunderland and has improved as a result. I reckon we coule buy another similar player for a similar price who would need coaching and guidance for a year or so. To replace the Stewart level player he is now is a multi million deal in my opinion.

I wonder if that means they see Alese as more of a left back in competition with Cirkin rather than a player who plays left centre half and do a job at left back

Have to admit not seen this lad before, decided to watch wyscout clips after the link. The lad has good close control, he takes it in his stride and he is always looking to take a touch forward which I like in attackers. In the box he is intelligent at creating half a yard to get a shot away. He looks a composed finisher, side foots it and looks to find the corners. Link up play was good and he has good pace & at 6ft should add good strength as he matures.

He needs to improve his movement as sometimes gets dragged too wide when he should stay central - this is common in young strikers though.

Definitely worth signing, this is the type of player we should be signing for our U21s as he has a great chance to then progress to the 1st team.

17 year old prospect? Under the Stewart reign us signing a Ukrainian would have been pure PR.

Same thing happened to Torres, goalscoring machines until they moved to Chelsea and forgot how to score. Pretty weird because the team wasn't bad and they both had plenty of chances.

I used to love Shevchenko, one of my many heroes from the football Italia era.

Excellent! Cements the clear impression we have that the club know what they're doing....at long last! I keep saying....I feel the future is bright!

He's not really said anything about what our transfer plans are there. Just that we need to fill gaps in the squad and Stuart Harvey is probably dealing with it.

I agree with the sentiment about being excited for our future but there's no substance in that article.
