There's a reason supporters shouldn't run football clubs and rarely do ... although it's clear, from looking at forums, quite a few think they do.

There's no room for sentiment in business and it's the first time the club has been run as one. Yes it would be lovely to have all the old favourites like Gooch somewhere in the background, for nostalgic cameos, but it's costly and distracting.

In my opinion we have to get away from the idea that most players are here because they 'get the club' or because local people are lovely ... not everyone is Luke O'Nien.

They're here to make the most of short careers. We sometimes have to move on players who no longer fit and allow others to go to 'progress their career'.

If Clarke and Roberts want to go the supporters shouldn't automatically attack the club. We should hope we're planning for inevitable departures and bringing in replacements who may turn out to be better or allow our style to develop in a different way.

So what if some players take the huff, get them out and bring in more keen ambitious players who've lost their way ... just as Clarke and Roberts had.

I choose to see this all as exciting but understand that many people fear change and want a situation that feels familiar ...

... football's not like that these days and the reason supporters don't often make the best owners.

Oh don't get me wrong, my posts are about us not needing to panic now. That we need to see what happens. There is so much **** flying about, we can't see the sky or some such.

Doesn't mean I won't criticise once deadline has gone and the dust has settled.

Stewart going I'm ok with

Gooch going I understand

Now to see who we get in, and if we stand our ground on the other players
Agreed

For me I understand it. Where is he ? 3rd choice? 2nd choice at best ?

What is his starting place, ahead of who ?

Lad wants to play football, can we give that to him ? I'm not sure we can.

Emotionally I'm gutted he's leaving, but pragmatically? I understand it.

Agree, most people say we can do better ...

... but also don't like to see him go.

You can't have your cake and eat it <laugh>

Always a risk we'd allow Stewart to go then be outbid for Cannon ...

... it's tough out there but we're in there fighting.
As long as we don't press the button on Stewart leaving until we have a replacement. I'm sick of this "we couldn't get the deal over the line" bolllocks from recent windows
