If we're looking for another striker option we should consider Josh Coburn from Boro, he actually came through our youth sides but we let him leave. He has done well for Boro and when out on loan, looks like he can finish and has a physical presence not to mention he is from up this way. At 20 he's still very young and will probably accept a role as back up to Stewart, competing with Hemir for a spot on the bench, sticking point might be that as a former player who we let go, we might not be keen to pay very much.

Can't see them accepting a fee we'd be up for paying. He is really highly rated.

Leeds United are ready to let Sonny Perkins leave on loan next season and a host of their Championship rivals are keen to secure his signature, TEAMtalk understands

TEAMtalk understands half a dozen Championship clubs have registered their interest in the England youth international and we understand amongst them are Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Birmingham City.https://www.teamtalk.com/leeds-unit...birmingham-launch-attempts-sign-sonny-perkins

Riggs 2 year deal is important in my opinion. If shows his commitment to us. He could have insisted on 1 year if he was planning to go elsewhere. If on his 17th Birthday he decides to go then we get compensation under EPP because he is under contract. Similar to Hamass at Watford. It is important the club protect themselves in this way.

My personal opinion Rigg is committed for the medium term here. He will sign pro terms next year. There is probably already a contract in agreement. He will understand the vale of first team football in an environment he has grown up in. He will have a coach he looks after him, both Mowbray and Murty. He will have playerd telling him the downsides of moving too early. 2 years is a signal to other clubs in my opinion.

If not good enough for Leeds not good enough for here.

If they loaning to a side in same league they ain’t confident he can perform at the level I’d be a hard no on any loans from same level.

Makes no sense.

They still have 2 £40m strikers at the club plus Bamford

Somebody I saw on twitter was saying that a 2 year scholarship is essentially standard from 16-18 as essentially its the "sixth form" phase. He's left school and now his scholarship / further education is with us. They then say that normally it only lasts a year in practice because the player then signs a pro deal or moves elsewhere to get one.

I have no idea if thats true though but it would make sense?

Either way I agree its definitely positive as he could have chosen to serve that elsewhere but hasn't.

Dan is not interested in leaving, that came from himself direct, it has all been press talk, 5 or 6 have said they keep away from NE journalists as they stir **** up.

Well you can't blame them for that attitude these days.

A pity, but these reporters - as they do not like being called these days - have queered their own pitch with a lot of lazy assumptions, guesswork and clickbait rubbish in the recent times.

No one hears much now until it happens, and we are all the better for it.

I'm going to defend the local journalists and say they are entirely constrained by both their editorial instruction (get clicks) as well as their access.

Media is broken in this country - journalists can't do the job they want to be doing. Good journalists have to resort to guessing and baiting.

It's why all the good ones left the print industry a couple of years ago to move to the Athletic. A site that derives its income from the quality of its work, not the volume of its clicks. It allows them to focus purely on stories rather than engagement.

Most NE journalists are either mags, or write stuff for clicks or to keep the editors happy. I don't think there's a decent sports journo based in the north east today.

Not necessarily, their attack is easily midtable Prem standard, was just their defence let them down. They currently still have Bamford, Rodrigo, Sinisterra, Gnonto, Summerville, Harrison, etc. This lad could potentially be decent Championship standard and he'd still get nowhere near their first team.

... Having said that, he hasn't got any experience in senior football so it seems pointless bringing him in. Not sure why we'd want to give experience to one of Leeds' youngsters over Hermir

Aye, they won’t have most of them though, and are still prepared to loan him.

I don’t see it. Know nowt about the lad mind so I’ll trust the club on it.
