£10m for a knackered player in last year of contract, still can't believe it. Hope he goes onto be brilliant but some gamble that even at todays prices. Loved LND but can't understand why he wanted away, pisses me off slightly. Onwards and upwards eh? My 9 yr old knows the score, he's kind of ok with LND leaving but Gooch he can't wrap his head round poor lad.

Hasn't had enough disappointment in the great SAFC tradition of such things poor bairn , let's hope he doesn't for some years either :emoticon-0102-bigsm

It’s a slower league, without doubt. They were also a few weeks behind us kicking off.

Ligue 1 isn’t a tier up from Championship. Maybe the top 5 or 6.

Leicester would finish in a CL spot in that league I’d imagine.

You’ve got PSG then an improved Marseille, then very little, Rennes, Nice and Lyon have a few players but never a full team, then you get some stand out bits of talent.

I’d fancy us to to beat at least 12 of the league, and Leicester 17

Definitely not as quality as the premier League, but still physical and comparable to the championship.

Aouchiche has Grealish vibes about him. If you watch videos of him he seems to be incredibly direct and aggressive in his running but in a skilful way. Really hard to describe.
A bit of Clarke about him too, from the clip I saw. Lovely balance and looks exceptional on the ball.

Where's Smug tonight?

Just sitting back and watching it all develop mate, great entertainment seeing everyone a-flippin' and a-floppin' <laugh>

I'm really pleased at how professionally run the club is these days which only highlights what a shambles it's been in the past. If we could imprint the current set up onto the Short era you could only imagine how good we could've been ... all that waste <doh>

The way we've handled the Stewart situation has been masterful. It's reminded me of one of those operating theatres where we've all sat watching a skilled surgeon take the rise out a poor soul under anaesthetic ...

... we managed to draw Southampton into a bidding war with themselves despite it being blindingly obvious that Stewart was desperate to leave and this being our only chance to cash in.

They've taken a massive risk on a player with quite an injury record who may never fully recover from the latest. He may turn out to be a bargain but I've never thought him suitable for the PL and have said so many times. I washed my hands of him as I stood applauding the SOL lap of honour ... it was painful watching him drag his sorry arse round the ground.

Despite people predicting all of our gems going, player unrest and a toxic atmosphere it's business as usual and the dawn of a new match day.

I'm as sad to see Gooch go as he is himself but this is our club in the modern world, we have to grit our teeth and trust them to do what's best for us all. It's hard, after the huge distrust and suspicion of the past, for us to believe the club knows best.

But, as my signature says, it's a brave new world and I'm loving it.

Well, if reports are to be believed then he went from £3k p.w to £25k, and got job / wage security for 4 years, as well as a higher chance of playing in the Premier League... To be honest, he'd have been absolutely bonkers not to go, imo. I don't hold it against him at all, and we got a decent fee to boot. I genuinely think it's a fantastic deal for all parties involved.

All the best Ross, no hard feelings from me <cheers>

No and that's fair mate, I get it from where we are now but I believe we offered him canny money and he prevaricated and then got injured. Is what it is I guess, shame how it's played out but aye from £3k to £25k has to do it aye. Set for life now rather than driving taxis for 30 year after football
